TurkStream Terminal Nears Completion

Bangladesh's 2nd LNG Terminal Begins Operations

Bangladesh has employed its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal with the beginning of operations of floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) 'Summit LNG' offshore Moheshkhali Island in the Bay of Bengal.According to Excelerate Energy, the FSRU completed commissioning of the LNG terminal, owned by Summit LNG Terminal, on April 29, 2019. The terminal has a send-out capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of natural gas.In August 2017, Summit entered into a 15-year charter agreement with Excelerate for the FSRU Summit LNG.

Delfin Taps China for US FLNG, but Final Investment Decision 'Challenging'

Delfin Midstream, developing the first floating facility to export U.S. natural gas, has sealed a preliminary 15-year sales deal with city gas distributor China Gas Holdings, Delfin founder and Chief Executive Officer Frederick Jones said. But industry veteran Jones told Reuters in an interview that Delfin is also tapping unnamed Chinese banks to fund its ambitious $8 billion as the current global supply overhang in liquefied natural gas (LNG), with bumper exports also expected from Australia and Qatar, makes Delfin’s target of a final investment decision (FID) in 2018 challenging.

Finnish LNG Terminal Work Awarded

The technology group Wärtsilä has announced it has been awarded a turn-key contract with Hamina LNG Oy to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal to be built in Hamina, Finland. The scope includes site filling, soil refurbishment, civil works, infrastructure, full containment storage tank with a combined net volume of 30 000 m3, regasification and gas metering, BOG (boil-off gas handling) system, electrical and control system, unloading, loading system and bunkering and truck loading. The LNG terminal is scheduled to be operational in August 2020.

Stolt-Nielsen Orders Small LNG Carriers

Stolt-Nielsen Limited subsidiary Stolt-Nielsen Gas B.V. (SNG) has contracted with Keppel Singmarine for the construction of two 7,500 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, with options to purchase three additional similar ships. The ships are to be built at Keppel Singmarine's shipyard in Nantong, China, with deliveries scheduled in the second and third quarter of 2019 respectively. The contract for the initial two ships is valued at approximately $80 million, including site-team costs and capitalized interest during construction. The ships will be capable of operating on either diesel fuel or LNG, with a class notation and technical capability for STS (ship-to-ship) bunkering, thus significantly enhancing their versatility.

Six Rotterdam-based parties will investigate how sustainably generated electricity, converted into hydrogen, can be used in the production of fuels. Algerian Troubles Impact LNG Liftings for France

French gas grid operator GRTgaz said a force majeure in Algeria and tensions in the global gas market were reducing deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to southern France, just as winter demand for heating intensifies. Petrobangla Signs $950mln Deal with Petronet for LNG Terminal

Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) signed an initial agreement with India's energy company Petronet LNG Limited to set up an LNG re-gasification terminal on Kutubdia Island and a pipeline at an estimated cost of $950 million. Prabhat Singh, managing director and chief executive officer, Petonet and Syed Ashfaquzzaman, secretary, Petrobangla, sign an agreement at Petrobangla Bhaban in Dakka. The agreement aims to set up liquefied natural gas infrastructure, which includes a land-based LNG terminal and a pipeline to carry the re-gasified LNG.

Flogas Britain and Stolt-Nielsen announce LNG project for Rosyth

Flogas Britain, the UK’s leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider, and Stolt-Nielsen LNG Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen Limited (Oslo Børs: SNI), a leading global provider of bulk liquid transportation and storage solutions, announced a joint project to explore bringing LNG to areas of Scotland not served by the existing natural-gas grid. Van Oord Bags Two Egyptian Offshore Deals

Van Oord has been awarded two contracts by international contractor Subsea 7. The assignments include the construction of a landfall and the execution of subsea rock installation works in Egypt. The projects are part of the West Nile Delta project, which comprises the development of a series of gas fields, located 65 km off the northern coast of Egypt. Final client is oil and gas company BP. Preparations on site have already started. The landfall scope of work consists of the installation of a cofferdam, trenching and pipe pull activities and will be executed in 2017.

In conjunction with LNG bunker vessels, the new berth will in future also make it easier for ocean-going vessels to fill up with LNG in Rotterdam. As with other kinds of maritime fuel LNG can be pumped on board large ocean-going vessels using bunker vessels.

Poland's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Baltic port of Świnoujście will be completed only if Italian firm Saipem receives further payment, reports Reuters. The terminal, under construction by a consortium including Italy's Saipem, is a key element of Poland's strategy to diversify energy sources for the country that now heavily relies on Russian supplies of gas and oil. Southern France Gas Trading Hubs to Merge

The two gas trading hubs in the south of France will merge on April 1, power trading group Powernext said on Tuesday, marking a first step towards a unified French gas platform aimed at preventing the large price swings currently seen in the market. France is divided into three gas hubs, but pipeline bottlenecks between the northern hub called Peg Nord and the southeastern Peg Sud prevent Norwegian and Russian pipeline imports from flowing to the south of the country. This makes Peg Sud, and the third gas hub, TIGF, in the southwest, more dependent on relatively more expensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, weighing on local industry's competitiveness.

RWE Dea Helps Cleveland Juniors Reach Goals

Yesterday, a new club house for the Cleveland Juniors Football Club in Middlesbrough in northern England was officially opened. With support from RWE Dea, the Football Foundation and other sponsors, Lionsraw collected a total of GBP 418,000 to complete their first Legacy Project in the United Kingdom. The club house and a lease will secure the future of the junior football club in the long term. Former Middlesbrough and England manager Steve McClaren officially opened the new clubhouse on Wednesday.

Hamworthy Supports Brazilian Offshore Oil & Gas Finds

Hamworthy Oil & Gas Systems was recently awarded a major contract by Brazilian shipyard Estaleiro Promar SA for the design and supply of cargo handling systems for eight liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers destined for operation by Transpetro, a subsidiary of Petrobras. The vessels will be designed by Hamworthy’s specialist naval architecture consultancy in Poland, along with the cargo tanks and cargo handling system. In 2007 the Oil & Gas Systems business secured an order for its regasification technology onboard the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) Golar Winter. Located in Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, the vessel has an important role in supplying gas to the Rio de Janeiro area.

RINA Classes First Offshore LNG FSRU

Genoa-based classification society RINA has taken a lead in the developing market for floating LNG terminals. It has been chosen to class the first offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), and is providing studies and support for a number of further offshore LNG projects, including the newbuilding which is likely to be the world’s second offshore LNG FSRU. Addressing the Mare Forum Houston conference, Massimo Volta, RINA’s General Manager America, said, “Italy leads the world in implementing offshore LNG terminals. We have recently brought the Adriatic LNG terminal on stream, and we have five more live projects for floating and gravity-based offshore LNG terminals around our coasts.
