Wärtsilä Waste Treatment for Princess Cruises

The Finnish technology major Wartsila will supply and install an Auto Gasification solution for the Regal Princess, enabling the safe disposal of waste from the ship through a self-fueling thermal decomposition unit, thereby significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.The gasification unit on Princess Cruises’ vessel will reduce the ship’s waste to less than 5% of it is original volume, turning it into a sterilize inert material called Bio Char and a synthetic gas that will be recycled within the unit as fuel, said a press release.It will also lessen the requirement to offload waste at shore facilities. Princess Cruises is a Carnival Corporation & plc brand operating as part of the Holland America Group.

Keppel Wins FPSO, FSRU Contracts

Exmar Barge-Based FSRU on Way to Singapore

Exmar said its FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) barge delivered end of 2017 has left the Wison Offshore Marine shipyard on Wednesday left the Wison Offshore Marine shipyard in China and set course towards Singapore. There the unit will undergo site specific modifications before departing to its project destination to commence its long-term employment mid-2018 in line with its time charter commitments. This is an important step in the successful implementation of the barge-based regasification strategy of Exmar, said the company. The FSRU is the first, new built regasification barge in the world, built on a speculative basis by Exmar, and the FSRU was able to obtain a long-term contract prior to her delivery from the yard.

Shipbuilding First: Wison Delivers Barge-based FSRU

A shipbuilding first was recorded with Exmar took delivery of the world's first barge-based FSRU and secures long-term employment for the unit. Final delivery of the world’s first barge-based floating LNG storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) from the Wison Shipyard in Nantong, China. Petrobangla, Summit Pact for 2nd LNG Terminal

Bangladesh's State-owned Petrobangla has inked final deals with Summit LNG Terminal Co to development the country's second floating LNG terminal. The Financial Express reported that Summit group will install a Floating Storage and Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) at Moheshkhali Island in the Cox's Bazar. The terminal will have 500 million meter standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) capacity, which would go on operation after 18 months. The cost of the second project is estimated at $400 million-500 million, which Summit will implement jointly with US based General Electric as an 20% equity investment partner. Wärtsilä Re-gasification system for Norwegian Ship Conversion

Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the re-gasification system for an FSRU (Floating, Storage, Re-gasification Unit) conversion project that Höegh LNG plans to carry out on a modern LNG vessel. The contract was signed in August. The Wärtsilä re-gasification system to be supplied will feature regas technology using water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane. This provides a more compact solution being some 15 percent smaller and lighter than the propane based system. Petrobangla, Excelerate Energy Deal for LNG terminal

Petrobangla has signed an agreement with Excelerate Energy Singapore Pte Ltd to establish a floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) at Maheshkhali to facilitate the supply of 500 mmcfd imported liquefied natural gas to the country. Syed Ashfakuzzaman, secretary of state-run Petrobangla, and Karlman Tham, business development manager for Asia region of Excelerate Energy, signed the deal at Petrobangla in Dhaka. Under the agreement, the EEBL, a subsidiary of US-based Excelerate Energy, will build the country’s first FSRU – popularly known as LNG terminal – to process imported LNG into natural gas on a build-own-operate-transfer basis.

Shell Plans Second LNG Terminal in India

The Hague-based global energy giant Royal Dutch Shell is planning to establish a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on the east coast of India at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. Shell already has a 5 million tonne LNG terminal at Hazira in Gujarat set up nearly a decade back. The Hazira Terminal includes a LNG storage and re-gasification terminal within a fully functional port. The Andhra Pradesh government has recently decided to induct global oil major Shell with a 26 percent equity in the proposed special purpose vehicle (SPV) for setting up a floating, storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) for liquefied natural gas at Kakinada.

H-Energy to Build Floating LNG Terminal in West Bengal and Canada

Business Standard reported that real estate developer Hiranandani Group plans to set up a INR 2,400 crore floating LNG import terminal off Haldia, West Bengal and supply imported gas to users as far as Paradip in Odisha. H-Energy Pvt Ltd, the Energy arm of the Hiranandani Group, plans to set up a 4 million tons a year floating storage and Re-gasification unit (FSRU) some 115-km off the Haldia coast by first quarter of 2019. In the Natural Gas business, upstream integration is common. In order to achieve logistical integration with its regasification Projects in India, H-Energy is seriously examining the option of setting up a 13.5 MMTPA natural gas Liquefaction terminal in Canada.

“Floating Gas Plant” Toscana Delivered

Tugs Fairmount Summit and Fairmount Alpine have delivered the very first “floating gas plant” in the world, the FSRU Toscana, safely offshore Livorno, Italy. The Toscana, a one of a kind unit, was towed from Dubai via Malta where final equipment was installed. After delivering the Toscana, both Fairmount tugs assisted in mooring the unit to her six pre installed anchors. The Toscana is a so-called floating, storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) which is now moored 12 miles offshore Livorno and will be used as a terminal and export point for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

FSRU Toscana Sails Away From Drydocks World

Drydocks World said that Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) Toscana sailed away from Drydocks World – Dubai. The unit, formerly the 138,830-cbm LNG carrier Golar Frost, has been under conversion since June 2009 at Drydocks world Dubai yard for contractor Saipem and owner OLT. The LNG Carrier, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries was converted into a floating LNG receiving terminal of the FSRU type, and will be permanently moored off Livorno, Italy and connected to shore through a gas export pipeline. There are only a few such units in operation around the world.

Drydocks World - Dubai, a ship repair, conversion and new building yard and the flagship company of Drydocks World, announced that work is underway on its first ever Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) conversion project, known as the FSRU LIVORNO Project. The conversion of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, Golar Frost into an FSRU, is being handled by the Main Contractor, Saipem, a leading international turnkey contractor in the oil and gas industry and will be delivered to OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, a company operating in the Italian gas industry.

ABS, Newbuild and Converted Offshore LNG

ABS is currently involved with the review of or being considered for the selected class society for several Floating LNG (FLNG) and Floating Storage and Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) concepts. “We’ve been approached by leading energy operators to help them evolve gas technology that has typically been developed for land-based facilities,” said Ken Richardson, ABS Vice President Energy Project Development. Richardson pointed out that the recent increases in the size of LNG carriers may create commercial challenges for the continued flexible operation of some of the existing LNG carriers. “LNG carriers are some of the best maintained vessels that can be found,” Richardson pointed out. “Strict maintenance regimes mean these ships may have many years of serviceable life ahead of them.

Keppel Signs Landmark LNG Deal

Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard), a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has signed a contract with Golar LNG Limited for the conversion of an existing LNG carrier into a floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU). The total contract value is approximately Singapore $90 million. When the conversion is completed in the second quarter of 2007, it will be the first of its type in the world. The conversion will be made based on relevant DNV class rules and international standards. Golar LNG will work in partnership with Keppel Shipyard in the engineering, procurement and construction for the project.

Indonesian Company to Buy LNG

State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina will be ready to buy 1.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Tangguh if China's Fujian Province decides to cut its imports, according to a China Broadcast reports. Fujian signed a long term contract with the Indonesian government in 2002 to import 2.6 million tons of LNG from Tangguh where an LNG plant is being built to be operational in 2008. Pertamina will be able to supply the LNG to Java for which it plans to build a gasification unit in East Java, according to the report. Pertamina will set aside $50 million to finance the construction of the gasification unit from which the gas will be distributed to industries in East Java and Central Java. East Java has been reported to be facing a shortage in gas supply.
