Teledyne Acquires ChartWorld International

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated announced today that it has acquired ChartWorld International Limited and affiliates. ChartWorld, headquartered in Cyprus, with additional locations in Hamburg, Singapore, Vancouver and Tokyo, is a provider of digital marine navigation hardware and software provided through a subscription-based model. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.Commercial maritime subscribers to ChartWorld’s software as a service (SaaS) receive free type-approved Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), a lifetime warranty and global 24/7 support.

Canadian Government Unveils 3D Model of HMS Erebus

A partnership between Canadian government and private industry today unveiled high precision 3D printed models of HMS Erebus, Sir John Franklin’s lead ship found last year in Canada’s Arctic waters as part of Parks Canada’s search for the vessels of the lost 1845 expedition. The model was unveiled in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Officials from Fisheries and Oceans Canada joined with Canadian geospatial software company CARIS and geomatics technology innovation support centre TECTERRA to unveil the models.

Intergraph Breaks Ground on New Corporate HQ

Intergraph, a global provider of engineering and geospatial software, start construction of new headquarters in Madison, Ala. The new headquarters will be located on the current Intergraph campus and is projected to open in summer 2014. Keeping Intergraph’s established employee base in Northern Alabama was a priority for both Intergraph and Hexagon, its parent company. Ship, Plant Design – New CAD Software Gives Virtual 3D Inspection

Intergraph, a leading global provider of engineering and geospatial software that enables customers to visualize complex data has released SmartPlant® FreeView™, a free .VUE viewer that allows users to display and navigate Intergraph 3D models and view associated plant properties. SmartPlant FreeView will open Intergraph SmartPlant 3D and SmartMarine® 3D projects published as a .VUE file. A user then may walk through the plant, ship or offshore model and select any object in the view to see its associated plant properties via the MDB2 package.

Intergraph and The Napa Group to Collaborate

Intergraph, a provider of engineering and geospatial software, and The Napa Group, a provider of software for the marine industry, plan to improvize the interfacing of each other's shipbuilding and offshore structure software solutions for integration and expanded capabilities. A mutual arrangement allows the companies to use existing features inherent in their software offerings. Intergraph's SmartMarine Enterprise suite, including its next-generation, data-centric, rules-driven SmartMarine 3D modeling and visualization solution, complements Napa's high-end software systems for stability calculations, hull fairing and basic design operations.
