Solstad Sells Normand Clipper CSV to Global Maritime Group

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Maritime has sold its Normand Clipper construction support vessel (CSV) to Global Maritime Group.Global Maritime Group, the current charterer of the vessel, declared the purchase option for the Normand Clipper, with the deliver of set to take lace at the end of the firm contract period on June 1, 2026.The vessel has supported Global Marine Group’s worldwide cable-laying operations since 2020.Solstad Maritime said it recognize a gain on the sale of approximately $10 million to be reflected in the second quarter 2026 accounts.Built in 2001…

MSC Cruises Pact for USD 1.7bln Loan for New Seaside EVO Ships

Cruise liner MSC Cruises has reached an agreement for an EUR 1.5 billion (USD 1.74 billion) financing for two new Seaside EVO class cruise ships.BNP Paribas, Unicredit and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti will provide EUR 1.5bn in financing for two Seaside EVO class passengerships. The financing syndicate of lenders also include SACE SIMEST, the Italian ECA, fully backing the credit line and stabilising the interest rate.The first ship is expected to be delivered in May 2021 and the second in February 2023. Cruise & Maritime Voyages selects Damen

Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam (DSAm), part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC), has completed maintenance works on cruise vessels Marco Polo and Magellan. Both vessels are operated by British based Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV), part of the Global Maritime Group. The works represent the on-going business relationship between Damen and CMV. Marco Polo is certainly no stranger to Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, having benefitted from maintenance stopovers at Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen in the past. During the initial docking process at the yard, Marco Polo was inspected by DSAm Project Manager Wouter van den Bossche. “After examining the vessel, we scheduled various equipment overhauls and repainting,” he says.

Mercmarine Unveils Engine Room Simulator in Sri Lanka

Global maritime group Mercmarine has unveiled a new state-of-the-art engine room simulator at its training base in Sri Lanka. Hailed the most advanced simulator of its type in the country, the Transas 5000 TechSim marine engine room simulator was officially opened by Ministry of Ports and Shipping secretary L P Jayampathy in Colombo. Mercmarine’s purpose-built training facilities in Colombo and Galle have delivered deck and engine related courses in all qualifications for more than two decades, and currently cater for more than 160 students.

Damen Performs Cruise Ship Maintenance

The 46,052 GRT cruise ship Magellan has recently completed a five-week scheduled maintenance stopover at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam. For two of the weeks, the 222-meter vessel was positioned in the yard’s 250-meter no.4 dry dock where the hull, rudders and propellers underwent a thorough inspection and cleaning. Originally built for Carnival Cruise Lines in 1985 and named Holiday, Magellan is now part of the Global Maritime Group Inc. and has recently joined the fleet of the British operator Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV).

Sortland Named CEO of Global Maritime Group

Global Maritime Group has appointed Peder Sortland as its first CEO. Sortland comes from the post of CEO at Apply ASA, and knows part of the group well from holding the position as chair of Global Maritime AS since April 2014. Before joining Apply in 2012, Sortland was chief executive of Ross Offshore and Subsea Technology Group. He has also managed the Norwegian unit of Subsea 7, and held the position as chair in Ocean Installer. He held a number of leading posts in the Statoil group from 1992-2010, covering upstream and downstream oil and gas activities both in Norway and internationally.
