The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has tapped Exail to replace obsolete gyrocompass systems on the 175-foot WLM Keeper Class Buoy Tenders. Northrop Grumman Navigation Systems for Canadian Navy
Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has been selected to design and supply gyrocompass navigation systems for 12 Kingston Class coastal defence vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy, as a subcontractor to SNC-Lavalin Defence Programs Inc. The contract will include Dual NAVIGAT X MK1 gyrocompass systems, NAVITWIN IV Heading Management Systems and a complete suite of Heading Repeaters. iXBlue announced it is to supply QUADRANS fiber-optic gyrocompass systems for installation aboard the four new Tide Class tankers of the U.K. Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). Litton Marine To Supply For Car Carriers
Litton Marine has been tapped to supply navigation, communication, control and stabilization systems for a trio of new car carriers under construction in Japan. The three 21,000-grt feeder-type car carriers - Hulls 1184-1186 - are being constructed for UECC (Norway) at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding for delivery in 2000 and 2001. Each will be equipped with a complete Integrated Bridge System (IBS) and Voyage Management System (VMS), as well as Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), with separate navigation, planning and conning stations. Litton's package also includes X-band and S-band BridgeMaster E ARPA radars, gyrocompasses, autopilot and steering systems. The company is also set to supply ring laser gyrocompass systems worth up to $5.2 million for an entire class of U.S.
Northrop Grumman Wins Brazilian Navy Deal
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) won a contract from the Brazilian Navy to upgrade the primary navigation systems on its combat ships with new-generation state-of-the-art inertial navigation systems. The inertial-navigation-system equipment will be supplied by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. The system, based on Sperry Marine’s ring-laser gyro technology, is designed to provide high-accuracy position data and precise attitude, velocity and heading inputs for the ship’s navigation and fire-control systems. The initial $2.1 million firm fixed price contract is the first phase of a multi-annual acquisition program to replace the installed Sperry Marine MK29 military gyrocompass systems.
