3D Printing for Offshore Wind Turbines Introduced
IT service provider Accucode is partnering up with RCAM Technologies, a specialist in large-scale concrete additive manufacturing, to develop large-scale, 3D printed concrete structures supporting offshore wind turbines.The partnership with Accucode comes on the heels of a grant announcement. RCAM Technologies recently received $250,000 from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (COEDIT) through its Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program.The grant was awarded to RCAM Technologies for developing a 3D concrete printed wind turbine foundation that will reduce offshore deployment costs by up to $4M per foundation and $400M per wind plant.RCAM said it will use the funding to expand its 3D concrete printing capabilities at two partner locations: the U.S.

PPG Publishes White Paper
PPG Industries’ (NYSE: PPG) protective and marine coatings (PMC) business has published a white paper comparing the performance of polysiloxane coatings to that of traditional epoxy/urethane and epoxy/silicone-alkyd coatings. The four-page white paper summarizes polysiloxane coatings chemistry and explains how it enables PPG products such as PSX(R) 700 and PSX 700SG (semi-gloss) coatings to provide long-term color and gloss retention as well as chemical and corrosion resistance that outperform traditional epoxy-based coatings. It also explains that the molecular structure of polysiloxane coatings makes them safer for people and the environment because they emit low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are made without isocyanates, which are suspected carcinogens.
Dalian Shipyard Second Order from Exousia
Exousia Advanced Materials, Inc. (OTC:EXOU) (BULLETIN BOARD: EXOU) , a manufacturer of advanced industrial coatings for worldwide infrastructure applications and engineered composites for eco-friendly wood substitutes, announced that China's largest shipyard, Dalian Shipyard, has placed a follow-up order to its initial order of zinc rich primers. CEO, J. Wayne Rodrigue, stated, "I am pleased to announce that Dalian Shipyard has followed up its initial order of 15 tons of coatings with another order for 20 tons of the same coating. This second order will generate revenue of approximately $100,000."
