Siemens Strengthens Water Capabilities in Oil and Gas Industry

Effective April 1, 2012, Siemens Industry Inc. has transferred the Water Solutions Oil & Gas business to Siemens' Energy Sector, Oil & Gas Division, Integrated System Solutions (ISS). Under the Energy Sector's leadership, the former Water Technologies Oil & Gas group will have significantly added capacity to address customer needs in the oil and gas market, including enhanced access to customers, increased execution capabilities and an expanded international footprint. Wärtsilä, Raytheon Partner on Nav. Systems

Wärtsilä, a ship power systems integrator, has signed a new agreement with Raytheon Anschütz, a division of Raytheon Co., USA. Raytheon Anschütz is based in Kiel, Germany. The agreement extends the scope of Wärtsilä's offering of integrated system solutions to include navigation systems, which can now be offered by Wärtsilä on a global basis. "The co-operation between Wärtsilä and Raytheon is in line with our strategy of staying at the forefront of systems integration within the marine sector," commented Mr Jaakko Eskola, Group Vice President, Wärtsilä Ship Power. "This close association with Raytheon Anschütz is something that delivers benefits to the global operations of both parties.

Rolls-Royce Gives Go-Ahead to FORAN

In December 2000 Rolls-Royce Marine and SENER signed two linked contracts, one for the evaluation of FORAN V50 during a test period and the other for the license of FORAN on a permanent basis. The contract for evaluation foresaw the installation of FORAN Licenses in Rolls-Royce offices in Ulsteinvik (Norway) and Navis consult (Rijeka, Croatia), together with the corresponding training for the personnel from both offices. After extensive testing, first with FORAN V40, and since October 2001 with V50, Rolls-Royce Marine has taken up the option to use FORAN on a permanent basis, with licenses covering the complete ship design and production capabilities available in FORAN V50. Rolls-Royce offers ship design, ship equipment and integrated system solutions for most types of vessels.

Marlink Extends Radisson Seven Seas Contract

First announced this past fall, a new four-year agreement between Marlink and Radisson Seven Seas, was finalized during a press conference at this year's Sea Trade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami, Fla. Held at the Raleigh Hotel, executives from Marlink, (a wholly owned subsidiary of Telenor); and Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, the briefing outlined the satellite services that will be provided onboard Seven Seas Navigator and newbuild Seven Seas Voyager, which is to be launched this year. The two vessels will join Seven Seas Mariner, which has been offering Marlink's service since 2001, in providing high speed data communications at 128 kbps.
