Heddle Shipyards Awarded Canadian Coast Guard Repair Work

The Canadian Coast Guard has awarded Heddle Shipyards a $36.14 million vessel life extension contract for the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) George R. Pearkes. The vessel will be dry-docked and enter an extended maintenance period designed to increase its operational life.The Hamilton, Ont. yard secured the contract following an open and competitive bid process. Dutch Navy Contracts Imtech for Submarine Upkeep

Imtech Marine signed a contract to be involved in the execution of the capability upkeep program Walrus-class submarines (IP-W) of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The Dutch Defense Materiel Organization granted Imtech Marine Netherlands the assignment to carry out the mechanical, engineering and electrical upgrade works on board the submarines. The assignment will be carried out at the Naval base in Den Helder and will run from 2013 until 2020. IP-W includes a large number of modifications, such as disassembly, assembly and installation of a variety of equipment and systems.

Britoil Enters the PSV Market with Ulstein Designs

Shipowner Britoil Offshore Services Pte Ltd. has entered into a contract of design and equipment packages for two platform supply vessels of the new PX121 design from Ulstein. The vessels will be constructed at Britoil’s own yard, P.T. Britoil Offshore Indonesia, on the island Batam. The X-BOW vessels will mark Britoil’s entry into the PSV market. Singapore based Britoil has a fleet of 40 vessels, mainly anchor handling tugs and barges. The company has more than 25 years of experience in ship services and transport.

Hagenuk Comms Systems for 3rd Combat Support Ship

Hagenuk Marinekommunikation GmbH (HMK), a subsidiary of Atlas Elektronik, is also equipping the 3rd combat support ship (EGV) of the German Navy with its communication system. A contract to this effect was signed recently with the consortium for the Class 702, 2nd batch. HMK will be responsible for the complete integration, installation and setting-to-work of the integrated communication system for the Class 702 replenishment ships; this includes the entire radio equipment for external radio communications as well as the internal communication system. The communication system features the latest technologies, such as HF broadband antenna systems, adaptive radio techniques, on-board network (LAN) and wireless internal communication.
