The global port management company, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) said that its Honduran unit  Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC) is in talks with the government of Honduras to improve the facilities at Puerto Cortes, Central America 4’s (CA-4).Puerto Cortes, Central America 4’s (CA-4) largest port operated by OPC, can expect faster cargo movement in and around the terminal with OPC beefing up its partnership with Honduran authorities for improved and more efficient port services, said a statement."OPC is working with the Honduran government and Puerto Cortés authorities to enhance the port’s competitiveness and better serve its customers in the four-nation CA-4, comprising Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

(ICTSI) is selling its 30% stake in a company that operates the Motukea Port, Papua New Guinea.According to a stock exchange announcement, ICTSI South Pacific Ltd, a subsidiary of ICTSI, has entered into agreements with Noho-Mage Holdings Ltd. for the latter to acquire a minority stake in Motukea International Terminal Ltd. The port and terminal operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) said that  its flagship Manila International Container Terminal (MICT)  recently took delivery of another new quay crane (QC) and eight new hybrid rubber tired gantries (RTGs).According to a press release, the terminal has the largest fleet of modern container-handling equipment in the Philippines today with 18 QCs and 58 RTGs.Manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (ZPMC), the QC is part of the five from ICTSI’s 2018 USD80-million capacity improvement program package. With a reach of up to 16 rows across twin, the new QC can service the largest feeder vessels calling the Philippines.

The global port management company International Container Terminal Services Inc.(ICTSI) said yard utilization at its Manila port dropped 58 percent in June despite a series of holiday periods and low trucking activity.The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), ICTSI flagship, recorded the drop in utilization rates despite recording its all-time highest throughput over a four-month period.Philippines-headquartered port and terminal operator said that this follows the 70 percent utilization rate recorded in April, down 20 percent from 90 percent in January after private sector partners and  the government signed a manifesto last March calling for the efficient utilization of container terminals.

(ICTSI) has been declared as the preferred bidder for the development, operations and management of the Port of Kribi in Cameroon for 25 years.Philippine government's  News Agency quoted ICTSI disclosure to the stock exchange saying that: "ICTSI has been declared preferred bidder for the concession of the development, operation and maintenance of the Multi-Purpose Terminal of the Port of Kribi by the Port Autonome de Kribi. Parties will now engage in exclusive concession contract negotiations ahead of final contract signature."The Port of Kribi, located in Cameroon, Central Africa, is a newly built port with deep draft.

The Croatian subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) at the Port of Rijeka, Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) is set to realize a comprehensive expansion plan in the period up to mid-2020.AGCT, in cooperation with the Rijeka Port Authority,  has drawn up plans for a two-phase dredging scheme with the first phase fully-approved, entailing the dredging of 130 meters of quay over its Berths 1 and 2. This will facilitate the berthing of vessels with a length overall (LOA) of up to 400 meters. Sudan's military rulers on Tuesday suspended a contract with Philippine port operator International Container Terminal Services Inc pending its cancellation, the country's Transitional Military Council said in a statement.Workers at Port Sudan's southern container terminal went on strike in February to protest against a 20-year concession signed in January to operate, manage and develop the South Port Container Terminal at Port Sudan.Reporting by Khalid Abdelaziz

Manila-head quartered port and terminal operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) has released solid results for 2018. ICTSI’s box volumes were higher, revenues increased and the group generated higher profit.The port operator said in a stock exchange annoucement that its consolidated volume higher by six percent to 9,736,621 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) (FY2017: 9,153,458 TEUs) and revenue from port operations increased 11 percent to US$1.4 billion (FY2017: US$1.2 billion).Its net income attributable to equity holders up strongly by 22 percent to US$221.5 million (FY2017: US$182.1 million).Enrique Razon, Chairman of ICTSI said: “I am pleased to report strong full year operating results for 2018.

The provider of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, Kalmar has signed a maintenance and support agreement with International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) covering the automated container handling solution operating at Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT).The order was booked in Cargotec's Q4 2018 order intake with the agreement coming into effect in November 2018, said a press release. Australia's first fully automated container terminal, VICT, welcomed its first vessel in March 2017. Located at Webb Dock East in the Port of Melbourne, the terminal's unique location on the bay side of the port means a faster turnaround time for imports and exports as well as easier berthing for ships.

Gonzalez, who has been named Global Corporate Head.Dawes will be directly responsible for the management and development of ICTSI’s Asia Pacific portfolio outside of the Philippines.With over 20 years in the port industry, Mr. Dawes has significant experience from senior roles in multinational port management companies in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI)  has announced a 6% decrease in income in its consolidated financial results for the first half of 2018.However, the port operator saw overall throughput rise 4% to 4.7m teu in the first half compared to 4.5m teu handled in the previous corresponding period in 2017, mainly on robust trade in the emerging markets and contributions from new terminals in Lae and Motukea in Papua New Guinea and the Australian port of Melbourne.The decrease in net income was due primarily to the start-up costs of the new terminals in Papua New Guinea and Australia; and the US$7.5 Million non-recurring gain on the termination of the sub-concession agreement in Nigeria in the second quarter of 2017…

Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) said it has been chosen by the government of Sudan to handle the operations and management of the South Port Container Terminal (SPCT). In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange yesterday, ICTSI said the state-run Sea Ports Corp. of Sudan (SPC) has confirmed it as the preferred bidder to operate and manage the SPCT under a 20-year concession. ICTSI, controlled by gaming and ports tycoon Enrique Razon Jr., said that SPC is the independent state corporation of the Republic of the Sudan that governs, constructs and maintains the country’s ports, harbors and lighthouses.

Contecon Guayaquil SA (CGSA),  subsidiary  of Manila-based International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI)  has received the government of Ecuador approval to accommodate mega vessels of up to 305 meters in length at the Port of Guayaquil’s Berths 2 and 3. "ICTSI further strengthened its market position as the main trading gateway in the entire Ecuador after recently getting the government’s nod to service larger vessels," said a press release from the company. The Ecuadorian Ministry of Transport and Public Works, through the Subsecretary of Ports and Maritime Transportation, recently gave its green light for CGSA to accommodate mega vessels of up to 305 meters in length at the Port of Guayaquil’s Berths 2 and 3.

A customized Damen Cutter Suction Dredger, type CSD500, has been named by her owner Basra Gateway terminal at the Damen Dredging yard in the Netherlands. Immediately after the ceremony, the dredger was made ready for transport and towed to Rotterdam, from where it was shipped to Port of Umm Qasr, Iraq. The dredger’s first job will be the port extension for Basra Gataway Terminal. The blessing ceremony took place January 9, when the stationary dredger received the name Ishtar – which translates as ‘Goddess of Love’. The owner, Basra Gataway Terminal (BGT), performed the honors. Phillip Marsham, BGT executive officer, said, “We are proud to take delivery of our new cutter suction dredger.

According to an announcement from the International Transport Workers’ Federation, an Indonesian worker who was killed on the job at the International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) facility in Jakarta overnight. According to the ITWF report, Local unions say the 40-year-old man was fatally crushed at 22.10 local time when a refrigerated container was dropped onto his truck, crushing the cabin and killing the driver, the second workplace fatality at the Port of Jakarta in three weeks.

Manila-based global container terminal operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) reported unaudited consolidated financial results for the first half of 2017 posting revenue from port operations of US$603.7 million, an increase of 10 percent over the US$550.8 million reported for the first six months of 2016. The net income attributable to equity holders of US$103.6 million, up 19 percent from the US$87.3 million earned in the same period last year due to the continuing ramp-up at the new terminal in Matadi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), strong operating income contribution from the terminals in Iraq, Mexico and Brazil, and the one-time gain on the termination of the sub-concession agreement in Nigeria.
