An oil tanker and a Norwegian navy frigate collided off Norway's west coast on Thursday, injuring eight people and triggering the temporary shutdown of a North Sea crude export terminal, Norway's top gas processing plant and several offshore fields.The frigate, which recently took part in a major NATO military exercise, was aground and tilting on one side, live television pictures showed. Virtual Marine Technology said it has delivered a second lifeboat simulator system to Prosafe. The simulator was custom built for training lifeboat coxswains onboard the Safe Zephyrus, one of Prosafe’s newest accommodation rigs. The Safe Zephyrus was constructed at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore. The vessel complies with Norwegian regulations and is capable of operating in the harshest environments and with the highest standards of safety. It can accommodate up to 450 people in single person cabins.

(Singapore, 22 May 2016) The topside of Ivar Aasen field was  completed on Sunday at the shipyard in Singapore and sailed to Norway shortly. The tire was delivered on budget and on time, which enables field development is on track to start production on December 1. "Ivar Aasen field is an important development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and the Norwegian as operator . We are therefore very pleased to finalize the platform deck according to budget and on time. Work performed in Singapore are of high quality, and the project is an example of a successful global supplier collaboration to create value on the Norwegian continental shelf," says Karl Johnny Hersvik, CEO of the Norwegian.

The Wei-Li crane ship slipped her lines at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque on Friday, September 11, to make the short trip up to Rotterdam after 10 days of maintenance and repairs. The 141-meter, 18,330 DWT crane ship required special dock bed arrangements, not least because of the 3,000-metric-ton crane mounted on her stern and her unconventional hull form. A total of 225 blocks were required, along with an additional 56 steel pillars of up to 7 meters in length to support the stern.

Keppel FELS Limited has delivered the ultra-harsh jackup rig, Maersk Integrator, to Maersk Drilling, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, thirty days ahead of schedule, on budget and with a perfect safety record. The rig was named at a ceremony today in Keppel FELS by Ms Margareth Øvrum, Executive Vice President, Technology, Projects and Drilling, Statoil. Maersk Integrator is an XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jackup rig and the third in the XLE series delivered to Maersk Drilling. It has been customised for operations in the North Sea and has been chartered on a four year term by Statoil for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

AVEVA announced that Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske), has begun deployment of AVEVA’s Progressive Handover Solution to manage Life Cycle Information for the high profile Ivar Aasen field project. The AVEVA solution allows Det norske to benefit from improved information quality within its projects and to reduce the time it takes to access key technical information. AVEVA’s Progressive Handover Solution is made possible by AVEVA’s industry leading Digital Information Hub technology enabling Det norske to accept data from various sources, regardless of software system. By utilising dashboard reporting with its EPC, Det norske can monitor information that will be automatically and progressively updated throughout the project.

In a ceremony held at GMC Marine Partners yard in Mekjarvik in Norway, Mrs. Anita Utseth, Senior Vice President in Det norske oljeselskab ASA (Det norske) had the honour of naming the ultra harsh environment jack-up rig Maersk Interceptor. Maersk Interceptor is the second in a series of four ultra harsh environment jack-up rigs to enter Maersk Drilling’s fleet. The four jack-up rigs represent a total investment of USD 2.6bn. Maersk Interceptor will commence a five year firm contract with Det norske for drilling the Ivar Aasen field in the Norwegian North Sea in December 2014. The contract includes two one-year options. The estimated contract value for the firm contract is USD 700 million.

Norwegian oil firm Det norske has lifted the resource estimate for the Ivar Aaasen field in the North Sea after signing an agreement to combine several adjunct licenses and good drilling results, it said on Monday. The firm said the combined estimated gross proven and probable reserves were now 210 million barrels of oil equivalents (mmboe), up 35 percent compared to the end-2013 estimate. Meanwhile, investments for the field's development were unchanged at 27.4 billion Norwegian crowns ($4.45 billion), it added. The field was still expected to start up production in the fourth quarter of 2016. Det norske is the operator of Ivar Aasen with a stake of 34.8 percent. Its partners include Statoil, Lundin Petroleum, OMV, Bayerngas, Wintershall, a unit of chemicals giant BASF and VNG.

Wärtsilä has signed three contracts with Aker Midsund of Norway to deliver its Vessel Internal Electrostatic Coalescer (VIEC) systems for three North Sea oilfields. The system enhances the speed and efficiency of the separation process of oil and water onboard in an environmentally safe manner. The contracts were signed in the fourth quarter of 2013. The systems are scheduled to be delivered between April and August 2014. VIEC will be utilized at the Gina Krog, Mariner, and Ivar Aasen oil fields in the North Sea.

Maersk Drilling receives two-year term extension for newbuild jack-up rig 'XL Enhanced 2'. Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has on behalf of the partners in the Ivar Aasen project, exercised its contractual right to extend the contract for the newbuild ultra harsh environment jack-up, XL Enhanced 2, by two years. Consequently, the duration of the firm contract is now five years. The estimated value of the two-year contract extension is approximately USD 280 million, bringing the total estimated contract value to approximately USD 700 million. Det norske has options to extend the contract up to a total of seven years. The rig is currently under construction at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

Sembcorp Marine subsidiary SMOE secures a Letter of Intent for an EPC Contract to build an offshore platform integrated topside. The contract worth about S$900 million, is from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, Norway, for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the process, drilling and quarters Platform (pdQ) topsides to be installed at a water depth of 112 metres for the Ivar Aasen development in the North Sea. The Ivar Aasen project is situated west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 180km west of Stavanger, containing approximately 150 million barrels of oil equivalents. EMAS AMC, the subsea services division of EMAS, a global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas industry, was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract, valued at approximately US$165 million, from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, an exploration and drilling operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The contract is for rigid pipe-lay and related subsea work, in the Ivar Aasen field in the Norwegian North Sea.

Statoil ASA (OSE: STL, NYSE: STO) has signed an agreement to exit the Brage licences, farm down in Gjøa and Vega and acquire a 15 % stake in the Edvard Grieg licence near the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea. This transaction with the German oil and gas company Wintershall gives Statoil net proceeds of USD 1.45 billion, and begins a strategic partnership between Statoil and Wintershall. The consideration to be paid by Wintershall includes a contingent consideration of USD 100 million relating to the production on Vega. "This transaction realizes significant value for our shareholders, demonstrates the value of our NCS portfolio, and further enhances the financial flexibility of Statoil.
