JNPCT Wins “Container Terminal of the Year” Award, 2017

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) was awarded “Container Terminal of the Year” Award for the above 0.6 million TEUs category at The Gateway Awards 2017 held at Mumbai. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port owned JNPCT won the award for its proactive strategies to ease congestion, smooth delivery of containers and revamping of infrastructure to support trade amidst adverse conditions. Accepting the award, Shri Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman, JNPT said “JNPCT has been able to create growth momentum in the last few years as a result of various initiatives to increase the overall efficiency of the terminal and the Port. The Gateway Award was instituted to recognise and promote best practices, innovation and motivation in the Indian Maritime industry.

JNPT Registers 5.11% Growth in Container Traffic

India's largest container port Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT)registered a growth of 5.11 per cent in container traffic in the first quarter of 2017-18. According to a press statement, the JNPT handled 1.20 million TEUs in the first quarter of the current financial year as compared to 1.14 million TEUs in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year. Meanwhile,  Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) handled 4.01 lakh TEUs during this period as against 3.99 lakh TEUs in the corresponding quarter of the last year, showing 0.5% growth. The APM terminal handled 4.99 lakh TEUs, up by 14.5 per cent and NSIGT handled 1.34lakh TEUs as compared to 1.17 lakh TEUs last year.

JNPCT Achieves Record Performance

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) handled 14,29,936 TEUS of cargo till March 7 as compared to 14,29,277 TEUs, registering a growth of 7.6 per cent. "JNPCT, one of the four terminals at JNPort which is directly managed by Port authority, handled 14,29,936 TEUS (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit) till March 7, surpassing last year record of 14,29,277 TEUs and registering 7.6 per cent YoY growth in cargo throughput," the Ministry of Shipping said in a statement. In a major attempt to rise above conventional standards and achieve high benchmarks, the Port owned container terminal has taken series of measures for improving productivity parameters leading to record achievement.

JNPT Rolls Out Holding Yard Operations in 6 Hectare Land

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India’s No.1 container port, has commenced holding yard operations in a six-hectare land at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT). approach roads to further ease out congestion and streamline the traffic to the terminal. This holding yard, which has been developed within the centralized parking plaza, will be utilized for parking Tractor Trailers (TT) awaiting the final documentation. Commencement of holding yard at JNPCT is already showing results and has reduced the congestion by 90% at the port gate roads. 600 TTs can be accommodated in this holding area at one time. Jawaharlal Nehru Port Aims High

India’s largest container port, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), said it aims to grow as one of the top 10 global container ports in the next five years. After announcing his 'Make in India' vision plan, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first port of call was JNPT, the biggest port for handling container traffic in the country. The foundation stone for the first leg of the $800 million multi-product Special Economic Zone SEZ project was laid on August 16. The project will develop free trade warehousing zones for engineering goods sector, textile and other sectors. The JNPT SEZ will come up over 277 hectares of land near the port as a self-sustainable integrated development project with a potential to generate around 150,000 jobs.
