Excelerate Energy Secures Long-Term LNG Deal with Petrobangla, Bangladesh
U.S.-based LNG firm Excelerate Energy has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with the Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla). Petrobangla has agreed to purchase 0.85 to 1.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Excelerate for a term of 15 years beginning January 2026. Excelerate will deliver 0.85 MTPA of LNG in 2026 and 2027 and 1 MTPA from 2028 to 2040.Excelerate first opened the Bangladesh market to LNG in 2018 with the development of its integrated Moheshkhali LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) terminal.

Bulgartransgaz Takes 20% Stake in Greece's Gastrade
Bulgartransgaz, the operator of the national natural gas transmission network of Bulgaria, has officially taken a 20% share in Greek company Gastrade that is developing an LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) offshore Alexandroupolis. The agreement for Bulgartransgaz to take a 20 percent stake in Gastrade was signed back in August 2020. Following the approval granted by the Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition, the transaction became effective on Thursday, January 28.
Qatargas Delivers 1st Cargo to Summit LNG

NSW Govt Supports LNG Import Terminal

Russia's First FSRU to Arrive at Kaliningrad to Start Up LNG Imports
Russia's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) is expected to dock at the port of Kaliningrad on Dec. 18, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.The FSRU, called Marshal Vasilevskiy, is being installed at Kaliningrad - a city separated from Russia and bordering with Lithuania and Poland - by Russian energy major Gazprom in a move to bypass pipeline gas deliveries via Lithuania in case there are any disruptions in gas transit.The FSRU will be the first LNG import facility in Russia, the world’s second largest gas producer.The vessel is currently anchored outside the port of Kaliningrad…
Survey Underway for Morecambe Bay LNG Project
Seabed survey company Bibby HydroMap have begun survey operations on the proposed LNG project off Morecambe Bay. The work program comprises geophysical, geotechnical and environmental surveying of the proposed pipeline route to shore and will be undertaken using a multi-vessel approach. Bibby HydroMap’s own vessels Chartwell and Eagle will perform the geophysical and environmental scope, acquiring multibeam bathymetry, side scan sonar data, sub-bottom profiler and magnetometer data, alongside benthic grab samples and visual inspection.
Wärtsilä Hamworthy Wins Another Höegh FSRU Contract
Working together with Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering (SOE) Wärtsilä Hamworthy will design and supply the system concept whilst the key equipment and fabrication will be supplied by SOE. The floating regasification market is experiencing significant uptake and Höegh have projected annual growth in the LNG market of 6-7% over the coming few years. Keppel Shipyard Awards Contract to Golar LNG
Norwegian gas company Golar LNG Ltd. signed a contract with Keppel Shipyard Ltd. of Singapore for the first ever conversion of an existing liquid natural gas, or LNG, carrier into an LNG floating storage and regasification unit, or FSRU, to be completed in the second quarter of 2007. The company expects a total contract value of around $90 million. The FSRU will be stationed offshore and, through a subsea pipeline, will be capable of a throughput of 2.75 billion standard cubic meters, or BSCM, per year at variable gas send out pressures up to 85 bar.
Golar Signs Contract with Keppel Shipyard
Golar LNG Limited is pleased to announce that the company has signed a contract with Keppel Shipyard Limited of Singapore for the first ever conversion of an existing LNG carrier into a LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). Keppel Shipyard Limited is the leading ship repair yard for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carriers outside Japan. Moss Maritime of Norway (a Saipem company) has prepared the conceptual specification for the FSRU and will carry out the design and engineering. When the conversion is completed in the second quarter of 2007, it will be the first of its type in the world. The conversion will be made based on relevant DNV class rules and international standards.
