Combat Systems Ordered for German K130 Corvettes

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK and Thales Deutschland have jointly been commissioned to deliver the combat system of the German Class K130 Corvette. The order comprises five corvettes as well as the Test and Training Centre (EZ/BUZ) in Wilhelmshaven.With completion scheduled for 2025, the FüWES K130 consortium formed by the two companies and led by ATLAS ELEKTRONIK will deliver the combat system hardware and also adapt and update the existing Combat Management System software of the K130, first batch (ships 1-5).The contracted solution for ships 6-10 is identical to the original contract (2003) for the K130, first batch. In line with the re-build requirement, changes in the solution are only related to obsolescence and compliancy with German regulations.

Northrop Grumman Installs Integrated Bridge System on New Tanker

Sperry Marine Systems, a unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation, has just completed fitting an integrated bridge system on a new shuttle tanker in Spain for Norwegian shipowner Navion ASA. Sperry Marine to Supply for Container Ships

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine business unit has won orders from the China Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for 12 new container ships. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “The state-of-the-art bridge electronics suite is designed to enhance navigation safety by integrating all of the ships’ navigation and steering control systems,” said John DeMaso, president of Sperry Marine. The new ships, which are being built for Chilean ship owner Compañia Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV) and German ship owner, Reederei Peter Doehle, will be fitted with a complete IBS featuring Sperry Marine’s proprietary Voyage Management System software.

Sperry Marine Gets Contract For Ship Navigation Services

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine unit has won a U.S. Navy contract worth up to $27.2 million to provide engineering and technical support for integrated ship navigation and control systems. The three-year contract, awarded by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, will run through September 2004. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract includes engineering services and technical support for installed systems, spare parts, hardware and software upgrades, logistics and maintenance support, labor and material. The contract supports Sperry Marine's integrated navigation and ship control technology.

Alliance Marine Adds Additional ABS NS Software

Alliance Marine Services (AMS) has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for an additional four modules from their suite of advanced SafeNet fleet management system software. AMS has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory, Financial Reporting and Replication Manager modules of ABS NS SafeNet. This brings AMS participation in the suite of fully integrated software to six modules all utilized on their FPSO units and other vessels. The organization currently uses the Crew Management and Crew Payroll modules. AMS has been compliant with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code Standards since 1998. The company is providing marine support services to several Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels in W. Africa as well as China.

Liberty of the Seas Fitted with Sperry IBS

Northrop Grumman Corporation has supplied the navigation and communication systems for Royal Caribbean’s newest passenger cruise ship, Liberty of the Seas, which made its debut in May. The integrated bridge system (IBS) was installed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. Sperry Marine also supplied the bridge electronics for all of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships, including Liberty’s sister ship, Freedom of the Seas, which entered service last year. Northrop Grumman to Supply Integrated Bridge System for SFPA

Northrop Grumman Corporation received orders to supply bridge navigation and communication electronics for a new offshore patrol vessel under construction for the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency (SFPA). The equipment, to be supplied by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit, will include a complete networked system that ties together all of the ship’s navigation sensors and steering controls into an integrated bridge system (IBS) running on electronic nautical charts. The new 84-m, 2,181 gross ton patrol vessel is being built at the Remontowa Shipyard in Poland for delivery in 2007. The ship’s diesel electric variable pitch propulsion system will provide a top speed of 18 knots and an endurance of 30 days on patrol.

Tideworks Oversees New Systems Deployment

Tideworks Technology Inc. announced the deployment of its Genoa Breakbulk Management System in Port Arthur, TX. Genoa is a suite of systems designed to help multi-purpose terminal operators more effectively plan, manage and control terminal processes. The Genoa system will be leveraged by SSA Marine, the Terminal Operator in the Port of Port Arthur, to control all its cargo related operations. Northrop Grumman to Supply Navigation, Communications Systems for SFPA

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has been selected to provide the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency's (SFPA) newest patrol vessel with a full suite of navigation and communication systems, networking the ship's systems and sensors into a single interface. The new system has been released as ABS SafeNet Offshore. ABS SafeNet Offshore is equally applicable to mobile and fixed units, to ship shaped drilling and production units, to spars, TLPs, semisubmersibles and platforms.
