MAN ES Expands its Digital Network

MAN Energy Solutions and Samsung sign strategic digitization agreement MAN Energy Solutions and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the digitization of marine engines. Together the companies want to define a framework for a long term strategic cooperation in order to develop technologies and systems for the digitization of marine engines.“Digital technologies and the business models based on these technologies will transform the maritime industry.

MAN, DSME and HSD Engine ink Engine Pact

On July 11 MAN Energy Solutions, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and HSD Engine (HSD) have signed a strategic agreement to cooperate in the field of marine engine systems digitization. The signing took place in Copenhagen. Continuing a long relationship, the companies now aim to define a framework for a future long-term strategic digital cooperation.“MAN Energy Solutions is determined to drive the digital transition of the marine industry”, says Brian Østergaard Sørensen, Head of R&D 2-Stroke Business at MAN Energy Solutions.

Harley Marine Selects Caterpillar Tier 4 Engine

Seattle-based marine transportation company Harley Marine Services has become the first to select a Caterpillar Marine engine solution that meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Final emissions standards. “[Harley Marine has] a reputation for being very sustainable and forward-looking,” said Brent Nelson, a Caterpillar Marine territory sales manager who works closely with Harley Marine. Harley Marine has received numerous national and regional environmental awards, as well as adherence to the ISO 14001 environmental standard since 2008. The company also uses an environmental management system across all its operational areas. When Harley Marine decided to build a new line haul boat, the Earl W. Redd, for towing up and down the U.S.

The Scania Marine Engine Solution Showcased at Workboat

Scania New 13-Liter

Scania introduces a new range of marine propulsion units consisting of engine, transmission and type-approved instrumentation at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 13-liter marine engines range from 400 hp for continuous use up to 750 hp for patrol craft use. The Scania marine engine solution, consisting of a new 13-liter marine engine is the first in a new line of engines for propulsion and auxiliary use designed for maximum reliability and durability, as well as low operating cost.
