Compact Genset Muffler Fits Tight Spaces

Fitting a generator and its exhaust system into a new build or a retrofit can be challenging, especially in a confined engine room. Marine Exhaust Systems said it aims to solve the space problem with its new whisper-quiet Series 4 Thinline Wall Pack Generator Muffler. Currently designed for up to 35 kilowatt gensets, the muffler is 12 inches wide, 17 inches tall and four inches deep. Its compact, low-profile size makes it suitable for any marine application, and it can be mounted on the hull side, a bulkhead or within the recess of a generator body.

At the opening of the 2014 PSP Southampton Boat Show today, Centek Industries of the U.S. announced the appointment of AJS Technical Services of Northants as the company’s technical sales representative for the United Kingdom. Centek celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012. The company has designed, engineered and built more than 15,000 custom marine exhaust systems for yachts, workboats, military and law enforcement vessels worldwide. Centek’s engineering staff has more than 80 years of marine wet exhaust system design and innovation experience.

Equipment noise can quickly spoil the ambiance of even the most luxurious craft. Such problems are a thing of the past for lovely 130' Lady Kath, according to her captain, Bill Hipple. A new Marine Exhaust Systems G-19 water drop generator muffler significantly reduced genset exhaust noise, creating more peaceful days and nights for all onboard. After the installation, Lady Kath's 65 kW naturally aspirated Northern Lights generator exhaust was only 74 dBA. This allows normal tone conversation.

Kvichak Delivers Pilot Boat to Savannah

Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc., of Seattle, Wash., recently delivered PV Georgia, a 64' all-aluminum Pilot Boat to the Savannah Pilots Association of Savannah, Ga. Georgia is the second vessel built by Kvichak for the Savannah Pilots. Designed by Camarc Design, U.K., Georgia is powered by twin MTU 12V2000 engines rated for 1,450 BHP each with Hamilton 521 waterjets and ZF 3050 marine gears. Kvichak said this combination allows for excellent maneuverability with a top speed of approximately 35 knots.

Kvichak to Build Pilot Boat for Savannah Pilots Association

Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc., of Seattle, WA, was recently awarded a contract to build a 64' all-aluminum Pilot Boat for the Savannah Pilots Association of Savannah, GA. For more than 140 years, the Savannah Pilots Association has safely guided vessels on the 25 ½ mile journey from the sea to the port of Savannah. They require vessels with excellent sea keeping ability and maneuverability even in the worst of sea conditions, and again they are turning to Kvichak. Designed by Camarc Design…

Marine Exhaust Systems Wins Patent Lawsuit

On April 21, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida found that DeAngelo Marine Exhaust willfully infringed on two of Marine Exhaust Systems, Inc.'s U.S. patents and that these patents are valid and enforceable. The court also awarded Marine Exhaust $92,804 in damages and agreed to consider additional losses, as well as possibly tripling the final amount. In response, DeAngelo Marine Exhaust said it is appealing this decision to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which is the sole appellate court for reviewing patent infringement decisions.

Delta T Systems, Gulf Coast Tours

Taking the show on the road, Delta T Systems' new Demo Trailer relieves the burden of attending trade shows and seminars in order to learn about advances in marine engine room technology. The company began the year with a 1,000 mile demonstration tour along the Gulf Coast. The second tour will start in April and leave from New Orleans, Louisiana. Centek Industries, 250,000 Lift Mufflers Sold
