Offshore Oil Rig Infection Exposes Coronavirus Dangers

Equinor reported the oil industry's first coronavirus infection on an offshore installation on Wednesday, highlighting the challenge in preventing contamination for thousands of workers living in the close quarters on rigs and platforms.A worker was in isolation on the Norwegian energy firm's Martin Linge oil and gas platform off Norway where production is due to start at the end of this year, the company said. It said it would cut activity at the field, but personnel would remain at installations, while workers would reduce meetings and sit further apart in canteens to prevent further contamination. It has 776 people working on the project spread across three installations, Martin Linge, the Maersk Intrepid drilling rig and the Floatel Endurance accommodation rig.

Floatel Gets Martin Linge Extension

Swedish contractor Floatel International has received a new extension from Equinor for its accommodation unit Floatel Superior at the Martin Linge Field Development in Norway’s North Sea.The onshore operational support and supervision company said in a press release that Floatel Superior started its charter at Equinor’s Martin Linge project at the end of July 2018. Sulzer Acquires License for Total’s Wash Tank Technology

Sulzer’s Chemtech division has been granted a license covering the Total-patented Wash Tank Technology for Oil Processing. The main purpose of this technology is to enhance the removal of water, salt and contaminants from oil and emulsions, by a controlled distribution of the feed into the bottom of a hull tank of an FPSO/FSO/FPU which transforms the water-in-oil dispersion into an oil-in-water one where high efficiency phase separation takes place more easily. The technology also involves a simplification of the topsides crude oil process.

Death Toll Rises in Korean Shipyard Accident

A crane has collapsed at Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, killing six workers and injuring 22, reports Reuters. The South Korean shipbuilder quoted as saying that rescuers are searching for people trapped under debris after the 32-tonne crane fell on a ship at its shipyard on Geoje island. The incident took place during the construction of an oil platform for French energy company Total's Martin Linge field off Norway. The company said the crane collided with another crane before it collapsed onto the ship. All of those killed were workers hired by various subcontractors at Samsung. A spokesman for Total's Norwegian subsidiary said that it was too early to say what would be the consequences for delivering the platform.

Five Killed in Crane Accident at Samsung Shipyard

Five people died and about 20 were injured when a crane collapsed at a Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea during construction of an oil platform for French energy company Total, the two companies said on Monday.   The yard in Geoje is building the platform for Total's Martin Linge field off Norway.   Total's Norwegian subsidiary said none of its employees were among the killed or injured in the accident which took place at 0745 CET (0545 GMT).   Reporting by Nerijus Adomaitis

Calecore Bags Norwegian Contracts

Calecore has been contracted by ABB to supply a pre-lay survey of the Martin Linge PFS (Power from Shore) cable route to be conducted from the DP2 class vessel Seabed Worker with survey sensors mobilized to a 150HP Schilling HD WROV. The Martin Linge Field is located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and the vessel will be mobilizing from Bergen, Norway in March 2015. The pre-lay survey consists of an ROV visual and magnetic survey along the 163 km center line. The PFS cable, which, when installed shall be the world’s longest HV AC submarine cable.

Keppel FELS Delivers Largest Rig to Maersk

Keppel FELS Limited has delivered the ultra-harsh jackup rig, Maersk Integrator, to Maersk Drilling, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, thirty days ahead of schedule, on budget and with a perfect safety record. The rig was named at a ceremony today in Keppel FELS by Ms Margareth Øvrum, Executive Vice President, Technology, Projects and Drilling, Statoil. Maersk Integrator is an XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jackup rig and the third in the XLE series delivered to Maersk Drilling. It has been customised for operations in the North Sea and has been chartered on a four year term by Statoil for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Delivery & Naming of Atlantic Offshore´s ERRV – Ocean Marlin

On August, 13th the delivery and naming ceremony of our last construction, the ERRV C722- Ocean Marlin - for Atlantic Offshore was performed. The event was held in the Norwegian town of Stavanger, where Mrs. Apeland H. Anni acted as godmother. On this day, the ship was opened to guests and employees of Total E&P. The Ocean Marlin was built in our Zamakona Yards shipyard in San Sebastián and among its main features we find 66.8 m length by 16 m beam, 68.3 tons bollard pull and a cruising speed of 14 knots. The vessel offers accommodation for 21 people. The Ocean Marlin is the second of 3 vessels signed by our group with the Atlantic Offshore Company and starts a contract of 4 + 4 years with Total E&P in the Martin Linge field.

Long Legs Jack-Up 'Maersk Intrepid' Delivered

Maersk Drilling informs it has taken delivery of its first ultra harsh environment jack-up, 'Maersk Intrepid', from the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore, and on time. The new offshore jack-up rig will start its mobilisation to the Norwegian North Sea in approximately two weeks, where it will commence a four year contract with Total E&P Norge AS. The Maersk Intrepid will be drilling the demanding and complex wells on the Martin Linge field development in the Norwegian North Sea. The contract includes four one-year options. The estimated contract value for the firm contract is US$ 550-million.

Ocean Osprey is Ready to Serve in Norway

Zamakona Yards announced that the newly built vessel Ocean Osprey arrived to Scotland last week to soon begin operating in the Martin Linge offshore oilfields to support the works of Norwegian company Total E & P. Ocean Osprey was launched January 31 at Zamakona’s facility in Pasajes (San Sebastián) and is the first ship ordered by the Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore AS built by Zamakona Yards. In a ceremony held at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore, the ultra harsh environment jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid was named in the presence of the Guest of Honour Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport in Singapore. With a leg length of 206.8 m (678 ft) the rigs are the world’s largest jack-up rigs and are designed for year round operation in the North Sea, in water depths up to 150 m (492 ft). First TWMA Offshore Processing Contract in Norway

TWMA, a  company in integrated drilling and environmental solutions for the international onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, has been awarded a major contract with Total E&P Norge AS to deliver offshore waste management services during the development of the Martin Linge field located on the Northern Viking Graben in the Central North Sea. The seven-year contract is TWMA’s first offshore contract in the region and, if given the go-ahead by Norwegian authorities, could see the introduction of offshore processing to the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Norsea Wins Total E&P Norge Offshore Base Contract

NorSea AS signs new contract for the supply of base services related to the development of the Martin Linge oilfield and Total’s oil exploration. Under the contract, valued at approximately NOK 400-million over a contractual period of 8 years + 8 annual options, NorSea will be supplying base services related to project development and operation of the Martin Linge oilfield, and general oil exploration operated by Total. The Martin Linge contract includes supply base services such as loading and unloading, material handling, storage facilities, outdoor storage area, personnel and forklift trucks, plus installation and operation of RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology involved in tracking critical drilling and operating equipment.

World's Longest HV Subsea Cable Contract

ABB wins US$ 170-million contract to supply Martin Linge oil & gas field in the North Sea with mainland power from Norwegian grid. The contract from Subsea 7, requires ABB to build a power link between a new oil and gas field being developed by Total E&P Norge AS. The Martin Linge (formerly known as Hild) field lies at a depth of 115 meters and has been identified among the oil and gas fields with highest potential reserves in the North Sea. The field will receive its electricity feed through the world’s longest subsea AC link – a 162 kilometer long high-voltage submarine power cable that will lie 370 meters below sea level, at its deepest point.

Dual-fuel PSV Chartered Before It's On the Stocks

Siem Offshore Rederi contracts with TOTAL for the long-term charter of its newbuild PSV from delivery in 2014. The contract with TOTAL E&P NORGE AS is for a new dual fuelled large platform supply vessel (PSV). The new PSV is to be operated from 2014 and will serve the Martin Linge field in the North Sea North-West of Stavanger. This is the first long-term PSV contract Siem Offshore holds with TOTAL in the Norwegian sector. The agreement is made at market terms and is for an initial period of four years, with four one-year options. The contract will commence between May and August 2014. The ship is designed in collaboration with Wärtsilä Ship Design, and will have a dual fuel system for the use of either LNG or Marine Diesel Oil.

Atlantic Offshore Choose Havyard Design for FSV

Atlantic has engaged in a four-year standby contract with the oil- and gas corporation TOTAL in the North Sea from 2014 to put in place a new vessel with a capacity for 300 persons in the Martin Linge gas field, northwest of Stavanger, Norway.
