Scana's Seasystems to Deliver Mooring Equipment for Offshore Project in West Africa

Norwegian company Scana said Monday that its subsidiary Seasystems had signed a sizeable contract for the delivery of an anchoring system to an FSO project offshore West Africa."This is a sizeable contract for Scana, valued close to NOK 50 million [currently around $4,8 million]," Scana said.Under the contract, with an unnamed client, Seasystems will deliver mooring equipment such as dual-axis chain stoppers and chain handling systems. Scana Records Strong Growth

Scana reports that it has more than doubled revenues and EBITDA in the first quarter. Revenues increased by 126 percent to $21.2m (NOK 208 million) compared to the same period last year, while EBITDA was up 140 percent to $1.63m (NOK 16 million), with the acquisition of PSW Group being the main driver.“Scana have transitioned to a new company. The acquisition of PSW Group closed on 11 January 2022, and Scana now forms a driving force for the green shift in the ocean industries,” says Styrk Bekkenes, CEO of Scana.“Our ambition is to reach $173m (NOK 1.7 billion) in revenues in 2025.

SOFEC Completes Mooring System for PFLNG

SOFEC, a MODEC Group company, has completed the engineering, supply, and delivery of a mooring system - chains and anchors - for Petronas'  Floating LNG 1 (L) Ltd.According to a press release from MODEC, this project included the engineering, supply and delivery of the replacement mooring legs and anchors for the external turret system.The PFLNG Satu has an external turret moored system that was designed to be moored in a water depth ranging from 70 to 200 meters.In March 2019, PFLNG1 relocated its PFLNG Satu vessel to the Kebabangan cluster field, offshore Sabah in Malaysia, which is located 90 kilometers northwest of Kota Kinabalu in 120 meters water depth.

Trelleborg Finalizes Acquisition of Marimatech

Trelleborg announced it has finalized the acquisition of Marimatech A/S, a company in marine positioning and piloting systems, primarily specializing in the development of software used for docking or mooring ships offshore or in ports. The acquisition will broaden and supplement Trelleborg’s product portfolio within berthing, docking and mooring solutions for ports and vessels.   The acquired company has its head office and production site in Aarhus, Denmark. The company’s global sales totaled approximately SEK 50 million in 2014. This bolt-on acquisition is part of Trelleborg’s strategy to strengthen its positions in attractive market segments, the company said.   The transaction will be consolidated as of December 30, 2015.

Statoil Picks MacGregor Mooring Systems for Hywind

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order for substructure connection mooring systems for the world's first floating offshore wind farm: Statoil's Hywind pilot park in Scotland. MacGregor will be responsible for the delivery of the Pusnes substructure mooring connection system for the pilot project's five floating wind turbines. Delivery of equipment is planned from the second through the fourth quarter of 2016 and installation of the wind turbines is scheduled for 2017. "This contract represents a step change for MacGregor in terms of entering a new industry sector," says Jan Martin Grindheim, Director, Sales and Business Development, MacGregor Offshore Mooring Systems. "The project hinges on applying proven technology in new applications.

Sortland Named CEO of Global Maritime Group

Global Maritime Group has appointed Peder Sortland as its first CEO. Sortland comes from the post of CEO at Apply ASA, and knows part of the group well from holding the position as chair of Global Maritime AS since April 2014. Before joining Apply in 2012, Sortland was chief executive of Ross Offshore and Subsea Technology Group. He has also managed the Norwegian unit of Subsea 7, and held the position as chair in Ocean Installer. He held a number of leading posts in the Statoil group from 1992-2010, covering upstream and downstream oil and gas activities both in Norway and internationally.

Deep Sea Mooring Acquired by HitecVision

HitecVision acquires 100% of Deep Sea Mooring, a subsidiary of Odfjell Drilling, a privately owned international drilling contractor. Deep Sea Mooring is a significant provider of rented mooring equipment, pre-lay mooring solutions and ancillary services to E&P companies and drilling rig operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The company was established by Odfjell in 2008 as an in-house mooring service company and has become one of three providers of mooring rental equipment, pre-lay mooring solutions and ancillary services to E&P companies and drilling contractors operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Deep Sea Mooring has an estimated 25 market share of the NCS mooring equipment rentals market, serving it through their locations in Mongstad and Kristiansund, Norway.

Bechtel Studies Cargo Ship Safety in West Africa

Bechtel launched a new research initiative to improve the safety of mooring large cargo ships off the coast of West Africa. The combination of heavy ocean swell, squalls and shallow coastlines can create unpredictable conditions which limit the number of dry bulkers that can be moored safely in the area. The results of this research aim to provide new mooring guidelines and systems, which will improve the transfer and transshipment of natural resources from the region. Bechtel’s senior ports specialist, Marco Pluijm, who chairs the new joint-industry project, announced the new research initiative at the Smart Ports Seminar in Wageningen, Netherlands.

15 China-built OSV's Get MacGregor Equipment

The ships are being built in several shipyards in China for delivery throughout 2013 and 2014 to Coastal Offshore, Nam Cheong, Ezion Holding and Middle East interests. Cargotec is supplying anchor-handling/towing solutions for two 59m anchor-handling tug/supply vessels, a 56.2m anchor-handling tug, and five 50m towing/utility vessels. Positioning mooring solutions are destined for two 100m/300-person accommodation/work barges, two 85m subsea maintenance/work support vessels, a 60m diving support vessel and two 105m subsea operation vessels. “Most of the system components are established designs, and we have combined them to meet the needs of a particular ship type,” said Francis Wong, Cargotec’s sales director for offshore winch solution.

Anchor-handling Capabilities Secure New Order For Cargotec

Cargotec has won a contract to supply two sets of MacGregor anchor-handling systems for two anchor-handling tug /supply / oil recovery vessels under construction at a Chinese Shipyard for a Singaporean owner. The anchor-handling equipment is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2011 and it will be manufactured at Cargotec’s facilities for offshore load handling in Singapore and China. •        telescopic deck cranes. Cargotec Secures Vietnamese Pipelayer with Mooring Solutions

A contract for mooring equipment for a pipelaying barge marks Cargotec’s successful entry to the Vietnamese offshore market. In July this year, Cargotec won a contract from the joint stock company Vinh Nam (VAM JSC)/TECMACH  to supply mooring equipment outfits for Vietsovpetro’s 110m-long by 30.5m-breadth pipelaying crane barge, Con Son.
