Rolls-Royce to Deliver 'Cleanest' mtu Series 2000 Engines for US-built Yacht

Rolls-Royce is delivering its new generation mtu Series 2000 engines which comply with the strict emissions regulations IMO III and EPA Tier 3 for a Westport 125 yacht. It's the first time these engines are delivered for a yacht to be built in the US.

Rolls-Royce said Wednesday it would deliver its new generation mtu Series 2000 engines which comply with the strict emissions regulations IMO III and EPA Tier 3 Recreational for the first time for a yacht to be built in the US. Rolls-Royce will provide two 16V 2000 M97L engines with an integrated SCR system and a power output of 1939 KW (2600 bhp) each.The engines will be installed in a Westport 125 yacht. Rolls-Royce is also delivering its automation solution mtu NautIQ Blue Vision NG for monitoring and control of the yacht’s propulsion system.

Humphree Retrofits 130 ft Mangusta Superyacht

Humphree USA has revealed that a 130-ft. Mangusta motoryacht has become the first in North America to be fitted with quad fin stabilizers and quad interceptors.When originally built in 2009, the superyacht was equipped with a set of four Humphree interceptors and a pair of course stability fins. Perini Navi Launches New 25m Eco Tender

Italian shipyard Perini Navi said its first motor yacht launch since the company’s rebranding, and its first ever planing motoryacht, the Eco-tender is effectively a mini superyacht tailored to the requests of her experienced Perini Navi owners.The project grew out of initial discussions with the owners for a bigger sailing boat. New Fast Displacement Yacht is First with Hybrid Propulsion

A new motoryacht built by built by the Netherlands’ Heesen Yachts is the world’s first Fast Displacement equipped with hybrid propulsion. Christened M/Y Home, the vessel is ultra-efficient, low fuel-burning and one of the quietest on the oceans. There are two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. Either source can be used independently or simultaneously, providing less noise and vibration, more flexible power management and increased efficiency.

Newport Unveils Education Series for this year’s Boat Show

Russians to Acquire Fairline Boats

Crisis-hit yacht manufacturer Fairline Boats has been saved after the firm was bought by two Russian investors. A new company, Fairline Acquisitions, funded by two UK-based Russian investors with a background in the marine sector, is to take on the failed company’s order book and initially plans to recruit around 100 of the 380 staff who were made redundant before Christmas. It will be run by Russell Currie, who has been a Fairline dealer for 18 years where he has made sales of more than £90 million. Currie said: “I am delighted to have been appointed managing director for Fairline Yachts. With the resources of the investors, coupled with the expert knowledge of the management team and our energy and passion for the brand, the structure is in place for a great future for Fairline Yachts.

Beiderbeck Motoryacht from Horizon

A new masterpiece from Beiderbeck Designs: in Taiwan, the yacht designers from Bremen are using the technical platform of a 33-metre long Horizon motoryacht for their latest commission for an experienced German owner. They are combining maximum comfort and all-round visibility at all levels in a particularly elegant way with a whole range of cleverly thought-out features. The customised 108-foot long double decker with its half-raised pilothouse (RP) on a tried and tested hull is already under construction and will be equipped with 2x 2,600 HP MTU-engines. This high-sea cruiser will let you directly experience the elements from every angle. The launch is scheduled for the start of 2017 and will be from the world-renowned Horizon superyacht shipyard.

Alia Launched the 41m Superyacht Rüya

Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts has launched the 41.29 metre full-displacement motor yacht Rüya. She is a tri-deck sub-500 gross tonne motoryacht that was built in all-composite to Lloyds Register standards and adheres to LY2 and MCA. Following a build period of just over two years, Rüya will now undergo extensive sea trials before delivery to her new owners in September 2015. “We have kept a low profile to date, because building high quality custom yachts has always been our main focus,” says Gokhan Celik, President of Alia Yachts. “And this approach has paid off. IAG Superyacht King Baby on the Water

Chinese shipyard, IAG Yachts, has successfully launched the beautiful 140-foot motor yacht King Baby, destined for an experienced yachtsman. "King Baby" is IAG Yachts' largest motoryacht build to launch so far. She stretches 140-feet while the other two yachts were 100 and 127-feet respectively. The exterior design is by a firm named REDS out of Italy. In fact, they did the interior as well. The yacht should go into charter service once completed and was built for a rather experienced American owner. This particular project had some alterations in its design/build life having ended up at 140-feet when originally it was around 5-feet shorter.

Holland's Feadship say they have launched the 46.22-metre semi-displacement motoryacht 'Como', created for the highly experienced New Zealand yachtsman Neville Crichton. Having previously built a large number of competitive sailing yachts in his native New Zealand and more recently owned a motoryacht from a leading New Zealand yard, Mr Crichton decided the time had come to commission an entirely custom superyacht of the highest possible quality. Hunt Yachts, founded by Raymond C. Hunt in the mid 20th century, is probably best known for its “deep-V” hull, a feature long revered as its signature. The business originated with the design of speedcruisers and motor yachts, evolving into military and commercial markets. Winn Willard, Director of Hunt Yachts and Vice President of Hunt Associates, has been with the company since 1970 and is responsible for some of Hunt’s most influential designs. Feadship has launched the 57.60-metre twin-screw motoryacht with an interior from Bannenberg & Rowell Design. Larisa features a contemporary classic exterior profile, with a wide range of modern features. The strong curvaceous signature lines of the design are supported by a straight knuckle that runs all the way round the yacht from the bow to the stern. Dometic Marine Secures Skipper HVAC Order

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine will supply its Cruisair equipment aboard a 105ft Motoryacht Class which has been built by houseboat and custom yacht builder, Skipper Manufacturing LLC. As part of the new agreement Dometic will deliver custom-built chilled water equipment to provide the yacht with 480,000 BTU (British thermal unit) or 40 tons of capacity. “As a private charter vessel, the ‘Lady of the Lake’ will be used to entertain up to 150 guests from her home port at Riverside Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The provision of reliable air conditioning aboard is essential to ensure the comfort of passengers and crew as well as satisfy owner expectations,” comments Bernie Clements, Purchasing Manager Skipper Manufacturing.

New Superyacht Berths at Gold Coast Marina

The project was  to provide moorings for eight vessels up to 30m for Lewis Land, The Sovereign Islands' owner and development group and included eight new superyacht berths for Grant Torrens International Marine's motoryacht brokerage display. Superior CEO John Hogan said there was a marked shortfall of superyacht berths in Australia. "Queensland, and Australia more broadly, is seeing quite an increase in large luxury vessels and superyachts, both visiting and on the market," Mr Hogan said. "With more large vessels being manufactured, imported and visiting it's important to have suitable berthing facilities... The Sovereign Islands expansion comprised seven 27.5-30m concrete Elite system berths with aluminium walers, designed specifically for large vessels and superyachts.
