Furuno Equips New US Navy Tug

The first of the U.S. Navy's new YT-808 tugs being built by Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) has been outfitted with a sophisticated marine electronics package from Furuno. Mackay Marine selected and installed a comprehensive suite of electronics that will assist YT-808 in fulfilling its ship-handling duties for the full range of U.S. Navy surface warships, barges and submarines. The helm aboard the new vessel includes a 12kW FAR2218BB Radar, DS80 Doppler Speed Log, GP330B GPS Receiver, FA170 AIS, and RD33 Data organizer.

Furuno's Multi-Beam Sonar reaches new depths

Furuno is proud to announce that it is bringing side-scanning capabilities to its flagship NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 MFDs with its latest network sensor called the DFF3D. This multi-beam Sonar takes the highly-desired capability to scan port to starboard under the vessel and adds Furuno’s commercial fisheries spin on it. This deep-water Sonar delivers a sidebar detection range of an unprecedented 650+ feet, while being able to see down to over 1,000 feet. The DFF3D utilizes a new, compact multi-beam transducer, along with Furuno’s own advanced signal processing, to produce eye-popping images that will help you find and track fish. The transducer and fairing block is only 14 inches long, which makes this a perfect fit for boats of all sizes.

NMEA Awards Top Electronic Makers

Marine electronics experts named 11 products in nine categories as winners of the 2014 NMEA Product Awards. Once again, Furuno USA was named Manufacturer of the Year--Support. The winners were announced at the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held October 8-11 at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott in Fort Myers, Florida. Category winners are chosen by regional panels of NMEA members from around the country, hand picked by the NMEA Awards Committee for their extensive knowledge of marine electronics to create a level playing field for all product and manufacturer support nominations. Furuno Makes Clean Sweep of NMEA Awards

Over the past 43 years, Furuno has received the honor of being the most recognized company in the marine electronics field by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA). This year, Furuno won four more NMEA awards at the prestigious 2014 NMEA Convention in Sanibel, FL, bringing Furuno’s NMEA Award all-time total to an amazing 212 wins. For the ninth consecutive year, Furuno received the highly coveted Manufacturer of the Year - Support award. Furuno Debuts Remote Controller and Software

When Furuno added its Black Box system to their NavNet TZtouch family, it provided flexibility for captains that wanted a TZtouch system on larger displays. Shortly after that, Furuno introduced its new line of Multi-touch Marine Monitors that ranged in size from 17-24 inches. Customers then came back to Furuno requesting the added flexibility of viewing and controlling their TZtouch displays from a remote position. While Furuno offers its free “NavNet Remote” app for the iPad, some customers feel there is no substitute for buttons and tactile control.

Raymarine Autopilot wins NMEA-BWI Technology Award

Independent panel selects product based on innovation, benefit to boaters, practicality and value. Raymarine took top honors at the 2013 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, winning the NMEA-BWI Technology Award for its Evolution Autopilot. The NMEA event, held at the San Diego Sheraton Hotel & Marina September 25-28, was attended by representatives of leading marine electronics manufacturers, dealers, distributors, media, and others from the United States and abroad. Named runners-up in the Technology Award competition were Nobeltec's TimeZero app (first) and Garmin's quatix marine watch (second).
