Northport Systems Upgrades Navigation Softwre

Software developer Northport Systems Inc. has announced the latest enhancement to its innovative Fugawi Marine 5 marine navigation software, Theyr Weather. Fugawi Marine 5 allows for simple download, management, and display of high-resolution weather data from the X-Traverse web service, eliminating the need to sift through low quality GRIB files from multiple, hard-to-find sources. Northport Introduces Actisense Engine Monitoring Units

Northport Systems Inc., has  announced  the availability of the new intelligent National Marine Electronic Association (NMEA)-compliant gateway, the Actisense Engine Monitoring Unit (EMU-1). Designed to digitize analog engine data, The EMU-1 gateway is an innovative, cost-effective, and easy-to-install solution that allows boaters to display and monitor the engines of their vessel on any NMEA 2000 displays. Navionics Chart Support Added to iPhone

Software manufacturer Northport Systems Inc. announced that its popular Fugawi X-Traverse online map collection for use with iNavX marine software for the Apple iPhone now supports Navionics marine and outdoor charts. Northport Fire Department Awards Moose Boats with Contract

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, has been awarded a contract from the Northport Fire Department, Northport, NY for a M2-33 outboard response boat. This is a 33.5 ft. all aluminum catamaran powered by twin 250 hp four-stroke Yamaha outboards. This vessel is designed to attain a top speed of over 37 knots, cruise at approximately 28 knots and will meet NY State Ambulance certification standards. The mission of this vessel is to provide quick response capabilities for marine emergencies in and around Northport’s harbor. In the past, the department has responded to boat accidents, tanker explosions, helicopter crashes and medical emergencies.

Four TEREX Mobile Cranes for Asia Pacific

Terex Port Solutions (TPS) continues to systematically strengthen its position in the Asia Pacific region with four new mobile harbour cranes. Two additional Terex Gottwald Model 6 mobile harbour cranes from the large crane family, ordered earlier this year, have been in use in the Port of Napier on New Zealand’s North Island since November. On 4 December, Northport Ltd. (Northport) not only officially launched its container hardstand area, but also a Terex Gottwald Model 4 mobile harbour crane from the medium-sized crane family at Marsden Point, also situated on the North Island.

Ship Spills Oil in Whangarei Harbour

A Hong Kong-registered ship, Ning Po, has leaked some fuel but it is unclear how much has been spilled or what the cause of the leak was, say local media reports. Officials worked to clear a fuel spill from the ship berthed at Northport in Whangarei Harbour. According to latest reports, the flow has stopped and a recovery and clean-up process is under way. Sources say that several hundred litres of fuel oil has spilled into Whangarei Harbour. Regional Harbourmaster for the Northland Regional Council…

Port Klang's throughput surge to 13.2m TEU

Port Klang Authority stated that Port Klang registered a positive growth of 10.8% in 2016 in container handling compared to 2015 with a total of 13,169,577 TEU’s, Northport handled 3,223,544 TEU’s while Westports handled 9,946,033 TEU’s. In terms of import container throughput, Port Klang handled 2,063,736 TEU’s,registering growth of 3.6 % compared to 2015’s performance - Northport handled 802,993 TEU’s while Westports handled 1,260,743 TEU’s in 2016. TEU’s compared to 2015; Northport handled 760,148 TEU’s and Westports handled 1,278,379 TEU’s.

Coast Guard Searches for Man Overboard

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans and a boat crew from Station Gulfport are searching for a Northport, Ala., man that fell overboard from the Carnival cruise ship Conquest between 12 and 1 a.m. this morning. The accident occurred in a stretch of the Gulfport ship canal between Cat Island and Ship Island. The crews of motor vessel Pattiesmack, a Gulfport pilot boat and boats from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, and the National Park Service are assisting with the search. The Conquest safely moored in Gulfport at about 1:30 a.m. this morning. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office Mobile is working with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office to investigate this incident.

Coast Guard Recovers Emergency Landed Helicopter

A Coast Guard Dolphin helicopter that was on Washington Island after the crew made an emergency landing on Sunday was recovered Monday and is being transported back to Air Station Traverse City, Mich., to undergo necessary repairs. A six-member recovery team from the air station arrived on Washington Island on Monday morning to begin the process of recovering the helicopter. At about 5 p.m. CST, the crew loaded the trailered aircraft onto the Washington Island Ferry, Arni Richter, for a 30-minute transit back to Northport Pier in Door County, Wis.

Moose Boats Awarded New Contract for City of New Orleans CBRNE Fire Rescue Vessel. Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been awarded a new contract from the New Orleans Fire Department for the construction of a M3-36 Monohull CBRNE Fire Rescue Boat. The M3 is a new product line for Moose Boats and incorporates the builder’s established design and quality reputation in a more compact platform than the M1 and M2 Catamaran Vessels. The M3-36 is a 36’-6” aluminum monohull powered by twin Yamaha 350hp four stroke outboard engines.

Foss Pioneers New Route on Columbia River

Foss pioneered a new commercial route deep into Canada on the Columbia River in August, navigating through strong currents and shallow water to safely deliver a new 190-ton turbine for British Columbia’s largest hydro-electric dam. In 2002, Foss became the first to use the upper Columbia for commercial navigation, demonstrating its ability to operate in extreme environments by towing a 135-ton turbine from Coulee City to Trail, B.C. just north of the boarder. This summer’s trip was about 155 miles farther upriver.

The M2-37 is a 37’-0” aluminum catamaran powered by newly introduced twin Cummins 6.7ltr 425hp turbo diesels and is propelled by Hamilton 292 water jets. The vessel will provide West Pierce Fire and Rescue with fire fighting, rescue, dive and shore landing capabilities.

Cavotec Wins Netherlands, Malaysia, Terminal Equipment Contracts

Cavotec wins two large orders for electrical power and spreader cable reels for ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes. These orders follow a recent announcement that the Group is to supply similar equipment to the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The first of the two new orders is from ZPMC, the world’s largest port equipment manufacturer, for power and spreader reels for 14 STS cranes for the Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) terminal in The Netherlands. RWG is a major port development that will offer a 1,150-metre deep-sea quay, and annual handling capacity of some 2.35 million TEUs. The terminal is scheduled to enter service in the second half of 2014.
