There’s a new name in the global oil and gas industry: Telford Offshore, which officially launched today after acquiring four vessels from Sea Trucks Group following its liquidation. The newly formed contracting company acquired four DP3 multipurpose offshore construction vessels which can support multiple activities, focusing on high capacity accommodation combined with lifting, fabrication and installation services. SeaBird Exploration Cancels Munin Explorer Charter
Marine seismic survey provider SeaBird Exploration has entered into a settlement agreement with Ordinat Shipping AS, the owners of Munin Explorer, for the termination of the charter party agreement and redelivery of the vessel. The transaction is conditional on the fulfilment of certain preconditions and is expected to be approximately cash neutral to the company in 2018 and 2019. The company is estimating that the transaction will save in excess of $2 million over the term of the contract, including the forgiveness of the $2.4 million charter hire payment due 30 June 2020.
Tidewater Names Rynd President, CEO
Tidewater Inc. (NYSE: TDW) appointed John T. Rynd as the company's new President and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors effective March 5. He replaces Larry T. Rigdon who has served as interim President and Chief Executive Officer since October of 2017. Tom Bates, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said "After completing a comprehensive search, the Board is very pleased to welcome John to the team. Bhd, an electronics company, has diversified into the shipbuilding business by partnering Pong Leung Swee to set up and operate a shipyard on Carey Island, Selangor, Malaysia Setron said the alliance entails designing and building ships and similar vessels to primarily serve the oil and gas industry. Study: O&G Setback Cost U.S. Jobs

According to the study conducted by Quest Offshore Inc., the Gulf offshore oil and gas industry supported more than 240,000 jobs across the country while contributing more than $26 billion to the nation’s GDP in 2010. "The Gulf offshore oil and gas industry supports tens of thousands of jobs outside the Gulf of Mexico," said Randall Luthi, president of NOIA. But offshore industry-related jobs are down from 2008, the study shows, due in part to the poor economy, the deepwater moratorium, and the continuing slow pace of new drilling permits in the gulf. More than 60,000 jobs have been lost in the Gulf States alone since 2008, according to the study.

PetroVietnam University (PVU) joined the Intergraph Education Grant Program. PVU is located in the offshore oil and gas hub of southern Vietnam, and was established to focus on the development of the country's oil and gas industry. Hovem Named CEO of DNV GL Oil & Gas
Liv Hovem will step in as CEO of DNV GL’s Oil & Gas business area from January 1, 2018. She will be based at the DNV GL – Oil & Gas headquarters in Høvik, Norway as a member of the DNV GL Group's Executive Committee reporting to Group President and CEO Remi Eriksen. Hovem succeeds Elisabeth Tørstad, who has been appointed CEO of DNV GL’s new Digital Solutions business area. Hovem has been with DNV GL since 1988, most recently as Regional Manager for Continental Europe, the Middle East and India in DNV GL’s Oil & Gas business.
MMS and USCH Sign Oil & Gas Agreement
The U.S. Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the USCG specifying which agency will be responsible for certain aspects of oil and natural gas exploration, development, production, and transportation activities on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The MOU identifies 27 areas of responsibilities for both agencies. For example, MMS will be responsible for most drilling and production matters, pipeline operations, emergency shutdown systems, inspection and testing of production and drilling equipment, decommissioning platforms, and investigating oil pollution related to provisions in the OCS Lands Act.

Golar LNG Limited announced that with effect from September 19, 2014, Sir Frank Joseph Chapman has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company and will act as the Company's Chairman. Mermaid Maritime Opens New Office
Denmark's Mermaid Maritime (Vietnam) Ltd. has opened its office in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province under a cooperation agreement between Vietnamese and Danish firms in the oil and gas industry. The event took place early this week on the occasion of a Vietnam visit by eight Danish offshore industry companies from October 9-13 to explore business opportunities. Mermaid Maritime (Vietnam) is located in Dong Xuyen Industrial Park. Though it was set up in October 2004, it has already become a market leader in marine and offshore safety equipment in Vietnam. The visit also takes in Hanoi and HCMC. The delegation is scheduled to join seminars aimed at looking into the prospects-for cooperation in the oil and gas industry. The seminars are arranged by the Danish embassy in cooperation with PetroVietnam.
Tenders Called for Floating Dock
The State Government has called for tenders for the construction of a floating dock at the Australian Marine Complex ( AMC ) in Henderson. Industry and Enterprise Minister Francis Logan said the floating dock was part of the $174m AMC expansion announced by Premier Alan Carpenter last year. The Minister said Australian-based companies were increasingly becoming recognised for their capacity to deliver complex contracts, especially in the shipbuilding and oil and gas industries. The floating dock was crucial to securing long-term maintenance work on the Royal Australian Navy ( RAN ) Collins Class submarine fleet, as well as enhancing WA’s bid for ongoing defence contracts.
