SBM Offshore said it has completed the transaction related to the sale of floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Turritella to Shell E and P Offshore Services B.V.   Shell exercised an option to purchase the FPSO from SBM Offshore in summer 2017.    The Turritella FPSO is contracted for the Stones deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico, which began production in 2016.   The vessel has a daily production capacity of approximately 60,000 barrels of oil and 15 million cubic feet of natural gas.

Shell E&P Offshore Services B.V. will exercise its right under the charter agreement to purchase the floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Turritella, enabling a Shell affiliate to assume operatorship of the Gulf of Mexico ultra-deepwater Stones development in its entirety. The company selling the FPSO is a joint-venture (JV) owned by SBM Offshore with 55 percent interest, Mitsubishi Corporation with 30 percent interest and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) with 15 percent interest.

Harding has been awarded contracts for nine FF1200 freefall lifeboat systems complete with davits on Heerema Offshore Services BV’s Semi Submersible Crane Vessel Sleipnir. The vessel will be built by Sembcorp Marine at its flagship Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. Heerema’s Sleipnir is one of just a handful of large offshore projects currently running, along with the Johan Sverdrup Field Centre in Norway, where Harding is also a supplier. “Everyone is talking about Sverdrup, but this project is every bit as big, with just as many systems,” said Harding’s regional sales manager Oddgeir Mælen.

The Gerritsen On- & Offshore Services BV company have handled a routine turbine maintenance procedure being undertaken on an offshore location in the Southern North Sea. This involved four of their personnel, utilizing an air operated hoist unit manufactured by the J D Neuhaus company for the safe and effective lift and maneuver procedures for a turbine lift load of 26,500lbs. The turbine was responsible for supplying power to a gas-compressor utilized for power, steam and other general services.

Sembcorp Marine has signed an engineering and construction contract worth about US$1 billion to build the world's largest semi-submersible crane vessel for a unit of Netherlands-based Heerema Offshore Services B.V. Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2018, the DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities. The contract follows a letter-of-intent to build the vessel signed between Sembmarine's wholly owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd and Heerema Offshore Services in March this year. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area.

When the diesel engine of a deck crane failed, it caused major handling problems for an offshore platform operating in the Dutch sector of the southern North Sea, problems that were solved with the use of J D Neuhaus air operated hoists. The crane was operating at 40 meters above sea level and provided a lift capacity of 20 metric tons. The subsea support vessel (SSV), to be named 'VOS Sugar, is to be built in China at the Fujian Southeast Shipyard. The contract contains the option for a second vessel, and follows on from the two SSVs built at the Shipyard in 2012 for Vroon Offshore Services (VOS Shine and VOS Sweet). The new vessel, VOS Sugar, is a modern SSV with retractable thruster and super‑silent tunnel thruster, providing a high standard of comfort for both passengers and crew. She is scheduled for delivery in early 2015 and will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services B.V. in Den Helder, The Netherlands.
