Port NOLA Names Mike Stolzman as GM
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corporation (NOPB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA), has named M.D. (Mike) Stolzman as its new General Manager, effective immediately.Stolzman, a veteran railroad executive with extensive short line and Class I rail experience, will report to Brandy D. Christian, President and CEO of Port NOLA and CEO of NOPB, which is a Class III railroad on the nation’s fourth largest rail gateway that connects with six Class I railroads and serves Port NOLA and local industry.“There was tremendous interest in NOPB’s General Manager position and we were fortunate to attract a wide range of highly qualified candidates,” said Christian.
Long Beach Port Celebrates Environmental Successes
Shipping lines, environmental organizations, trucking companies, terminal operators and a railroad were honored today, July 29, by Long Beach Mayor Dr. Robert Garcia and the Port of Long Beach at the annual Environmental Achievement Awards. The awards are an outgrowth of the groundbreaking Green Port Policy, the Port’s commitment to improving the environment. Approved in 2005 by the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, the policy put the Port on the path to become a world leader in environmental stewardship. At today’s event, Mayor Garcia introduced the “Mayor’s Green Port Award,” which was presented to terminal operator Long Beach Container Terminal.

Ports Extend Public Comment Period Deadline
The Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles are extending the public comment period for the San Pedro Bay Clean Air Action Plan by 30 days, to August 28, to ensure adequate time is allowed for the public to thoroughly review, evaluate and develop constructive comments to increase the effectiveness of the strategies outlined in the Plan. Because of the deadline extension, the final Plan will not be completed until October. So, the Ports are pushing back adoption of the Plan, rescheduling action by the Long Beach and Los Angeles harbor commissions for late October or November. The extension will not delay the ports from moving forward with programs to improve air quality. • Inclusion of environmental covenants in new and modified lease negotiations.
