Angel Island Ferry to Be Converted to All-Electric

A ferry servicing California’s Angel Island State Park will be converted to operate as the state’s first zero-emission, electric propulsion short-route passenger vessel beginning in 2024.Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced it is partnering with the Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry Company (Angel Island Ferry) to support the electrification of The Angel Island vessel.PG&E's Electric Vehicle (EV) Fleet Program helps medium- and heavy-duty fleet customers easily and cost-effectively install charging infrastructure via comprehensive construction support and financial incentives.

US Works with Firms in Supply Chains to Ease Port Congestion

Royston completed work to overhaul a high-speed diesel engine on a Pritchard Gordon Tanker.Engineers undertook the 51,000 running hour service on the No.2 generator onboard the 127m length Henrietta PG in Trinidad as part of a planned refurbishment and maintenance program. Aas Mek Contracts PG for Wellboat Pumps

Norwegian shipbuilder Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to deliver pump systems to a wellboat the shipyard is building for Brønnbåt Nord AS.The wellboat to Brønnbåt Nord Lofoten is newbuild number 207 from Aas Mekaniske Verksted. PG to Deliver Cargo Systems for MPSV Newbuilds

Norwegian-based PG Flow Solutions said on Wednesday it has secured orders to supply large liquid-cargo systems and associated equipment for two multipurpose support vessels (MPSV) being constructed in China for an undisclosed shipowner.Under the contract with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, theliquid handling and pump specialist said it will supply a comprehensive hydraulically driven cargo system with pumps, mud agitators, hydraulic power pack and control system to each of the two vessels.

Klaveness' CLEANBU Switch from Wet to Dry Cargo

Norway-based shipowner Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) has undertaken a wet-dry cargo switch, marking a first for one of its CLEANBU combination carriers.The vessel transported a full cargo of petroleum products (CPP) from India to Argentina, said the global owner and operator of combination carriers.After discharging the CPP, she completed the cleaning and conversion from tanker mode to dry bulk mode, loaded a grain cargo and is now enroute back to Asia. Keppel Orders PG Flow Solutions for Gimmi FLNG

Singaporebased Keppel Shipyard has awarded Norwegian liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to supply high flow seawater pumps to the Gimi FLNG that is being converted at the yard.PG Flow Solutions will deliver four large seawater pumps, each with a capacity of 5,500 cubic metres of water per hour. PG's Pump for Sølvtrans' Boat

Norwegian shipyard Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded compatriot pump supplier PG Flow Solutions a deal to deliver pump systems to another new vessel the yard is building for wellboat company Sølvtrans.Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions will deliver eight of the company’s large seawater circulation pumps that ensure continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well.Additionally, the company will supply all engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat. NFT Partners with PG Flow Solutions on Wellboat Pumps

Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions is working with Norsk Fisketransport AS (NFT) to develop a new service programme to further optimise the operational uptime of the shipowner’s vessels.The Norwegean wellbore shipping company said that PG Flow Solutions has assisted it with identifying flexible pump systems that can be utilized across the company’s wellboat fleet.In the wake of this, NTF has identified and ordered selected cargo-critical pumps that are prepared for storage and will be available as spare pumps for use on board several of NFT’s wellboats, it said.Norsk Fisketransport AS provides wellboat services along the Norwegian coast. The company operates eight wellboats.PG Flow Solutions is also launching a pilot project for condition monitoring of the pumps.

New Water Booster Pumps for Polvo FPSO

As part of the life extension project for the Polvo Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, operator BW Offshore has contracted Norwegian based liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions to supply new water booster pumps.PG Flow Solutions said its scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, assembly of pump skid and commissioning of two produced water booster pumps in super duplex materials, with 150kW electrical motors, variable frequency drives and pressurized seal system.“After a couple of challenging years for the Brazilian offshore industry, we are slowly seeing small signs of recovery,” said says Steve Paulsen, CEO of PG Flow Solutions.

Up to Nine Hurtigruten Ships Will Switch to Hybrid Power

Norwegian cruise ferry operator Hurtigruten has signed a Letter of Intent with Rolls-Royce to upgrade up to nine vessels to hybrid power.The main engines on up to nine cruise ships will switch from diesel to gas power, and the upgrade will also include installation of a hybrid battery system.The deal comprises the supply of equipment to six existing passenger cruise vessels, with an option for a further three. The ships will completely change their power system with the installation of new Rolls-Royce liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines as part of a new hybrid system.
