Konecranes Wins New Order for RTG System from Indonesia

The smart terminal solutions provider Konecranes has received another order for the delivery of an Automated RTG (ARTG) System to PT Prima Terminal Petikemas, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero).The ARTG system on order includes 12 ARTG cranes with associated software, interfaces and services, said a press release from the company.The 12 ARTGs will be delivered in January 2020 to Belawan Container Terminal, Phase 2 in Medan, North Sumatra. They will be identical to those already delivered to PT Prima Multi Terminal in Kuala Tanjung, Indonesia.Indonesia is a strategically important country for Konecranes.

Eight Robert Allan Tugs for Persero

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) has taken delivery of the first eight, of a total 15, RAzer ASD tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. The two RAzer 2960, two RAzer 2935 and four RAzer 2940 tugs are part of a major terminal expansion and fleet renewal program undertaken by Pelindo III in its operational territory. The RAzer 2960s and RAzer 2935s were built by PT Daya Radar Utama Shipyards in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the RAzer 2940s were built by PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyards in Surabaya, Indonesia. These will be the first Robert Allan Ltd. tugs to be designed specifically to operate from major ports in Indonesia, including the new container port of Terminal Teluk Lamong, near Surabaya.

DP World, Indonesian Government Sign Pact to Develop Ports

DP World and Indonesian government and port officials signed an agreement to advise on the development of the Kuala Tanjung greenfield port and logistics zone and Belawan port in North Sumatra. As part of a Technical Assistance Contract, DP World will share its expertise and experience in increasing efficiencies, training and development for employees and developing multi-modal transport hubs. The agreement was signed by DP World Group Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Anil Wats and state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) I President Director, Bambang Eka Cahyana. The event was also attended by Indonesian Minister of State Owned Enterprises Rini M Soemarno, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Husein Bagis and senior DP World officials.

CMA CGM to Tap Indonesian Market

CMA CGM aims to increase its market share in Indonesia to 20 percent by year-end from the current 13 percent, reported The Jakarta Post. The company's senior vice president in Asia, Jean-Yves Duval said that with aggressive marketing, as well as longer and more efficient routes, we believe we can have 20 percent of the market by end of 2017. Recently, the Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II President Director Elvyn G Masassya welcomed the arrival of the largest container ship CMA CGM Otello which berthed at Jakarta International Container Terminal. The arrival of the ship is in conjunction with the cooperation to serve a new route with the Java South East Asia Express Services (JAX Service).

Jakarta's New Container Terminal Starts Operating

On August 18, a new container terminal built by NYK Line together with PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) (IPC), Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and PSA International Pte Ltd  opened for commercial service at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Indonesia. This new terminal will be operated by the newly established company PT New Priok Container Terminal One.   The terminal will have an annual handling capacity of approximately 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers, an overall berth length of 850 meters and a 16-meter draft, allowing the terminal to accommodate advanced mega containerships.

Pelindo III to Receive 15 Tugs in Indonesia

In early 2015, Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, Canada was awarded a contract to provide four customized versions of its distinctive RAzer series designs of ASD tugboats to the Indonesia Port Corporation, “PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (PERSERO)”, commonly known as Pelindo III. While Robert Allan Ltd. had long been very active in the Asian market, these designs were its first directly for a company from Indonesia, a country estimated to employ more than 2,000 tug boats.

Townsville Port, IPC Sign MoU

Northern Australia’s largest general cargo port, the Port of Townsville, will today sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) or the Indonesia Port Corporation (IPC). Indonesia Plans to Build 22 Ports

Indonesia Port Corporations (IPC) or PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II, Indonesia’s state-owned port operator is to build 22 ports in the country in the next five years for an anticipated cost of around $3.5 billion. “We are targeting to build 22 ports from Belawan to Sorong within five years,” Pelindo II chief executive Richard Joost Lino said. The Indonesian port projects are to be financed by cash and loans and once completed each will have a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs. As on date, the company has cash reserves of around Rp19.5 trillion from bond issuance, bank loans and internal cash flows. This project is a continuation of Indonesia’s previous decision to seek $7 billion in funding for its ‘Maritime Highway’ initiative.

Indonesia Rolls Out First Green Container Terminal

It was an historic moment for Indonesia when President of Indonesia inaugurated the Lamong Bay Terminal in Surabaya, East Java, operated by state-owned PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III). The Lamong Bay is the first green-concept container terminal in the country, and will increase the port’s annual capacity from 1.5 million to 3.5 million TEUs. Once fully operational, the total capacity of this bay terminal will be 5.5 million TEUs. "We have forgotten and I need to remind that two-third of Indonesian regions are water," President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo spoke before the audience, calling on regional heads and the people to pay attention on Indonesian maritime affairs. Jokowi hoped that the integration of Indonesian ports would reduce transportation and logistics cost.

NPCT1 to Develop New CT in Jakarta

PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) (“IPC”), Mitsui & Co, Ltd. (“Mitsui”), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (“NYK Line”) and PSA International Pte Ltd (“PSA”) have agreed to jointly participate in the construction and operation of a new container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Indonesia. This new terminal will be developed and operated by the newly established project company PT New Priok Container Terminal One (“NPCT1”). The Republic of Indonesia has in recent years experienced dramatic economic growth accompanied by a rapid increase in container traffic. Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok Port is the most important and largest port in Indonesia, handling the majority of Indonesia’s international container traffic.

Automated RTG System Order For Konecranes From Indonesian CT Operator

Konecranes has signed an agreement to deliver an Automated RTG (ARTG) system to Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), (“Pelindo III”). This will be the world’s first commercially operational Automated RTG system. The order comprises 11 ARTG cranes, Remote Operating Stations (ROSs) and container yard automation infrastructure such as intelligent container stack gates. Delivery is scheduled for 2015. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. The government of Indonesia is building a nationwide freight transport system to improve the movement of goods through the country’s vast waterways. As part of this program, Pelindo III will extend its Terminal Petikemas Semarang (TPKS) in Semarang, Central Java.

Gaussin Wins 100-unit Deal for Electric Terminal Vehicles

Gaussin Manugistique SA, designer and manufacturer of industrial and port transport vehicles, sealed a record deal for its container-handling Automotive Terminal Trailer (ATT) from Turkish port and logistics operator AKAN-SEL. Under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on June 26 at the TOC Container Supply Chain Europe show in Rotterdam, AKAN-SEL has placed a confirmed order for 40 ATT units, with an option for 60 more. Konecranes to deliver container handling equipment to Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero). The order comprises 10 ship-to-shore cranes, 20 automated stacking cranes and five straddle carriers. Delivery is scheduled for 2014 and 2016. The value of the order is not disclosed, but is more than €100 million (nearly US$131-million). The Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), is also known as Pelindo III.

Repower for Dutch-Indonesian Docking Tug

Tugs have a way of moving around over the years.
