Qatar's Milaha to Upgrade Shipyard in Mesaieed

Qatar Navigation (Milaha), maritime and logistics company in the Middle East,  has selected Royal Haskoning DHV to develop plans to upgrade its Shipyard facilities in preparation for further growth in current markets and expansion into new areas of operations.According to a Qatar Stock Exchange annoucement, the Shipyard also serves the industrial markets by providing maintenance, shutdown, fabrication and workshops services.Since its foundation in 1978, Milaha’s strategically-located Shipyard has repaired approximately 8,000 vessels by serving a number of regional and international shipowners.Commenting on the upgrade plans, Milaha’s…

Finalists of Mersey Maritime Industry Awards Announced

The finalists of the 2017 Mersey Maritime Industry Awards (MMIAs) have been announced. The winners will be revealed at a prestigious black tie dinner that will have a Ministerial presence and promises to bring together the best of the maritime industry right across the Maritime, Logistics and Energy spectrum in the region. The MMIAs are organised by sector representative body Mersey Maritime and the Awards recognise the excellence and diversity that exists across all sectors of the maritime industry in the North West. Dalstra Appointed CFO, Royal HaskoningDHV

The Supervisory Board of Royal HaskoningDHV has appointed Nynke Dalstra as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Going forwards, the Executive Board consists of CEO Erik Oostwegel and Nynke Dalstra (47) as CFO, a role she has held on an interim basis since October following the departure of former CFO Jaska de Bakker. Joop van Oosten, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: “We conducted an internal and external search for a new CFO and have concluded Nynke is the best candidate. She is talented, knows our company and our markets and has excellent leadership skills. Nynke Dalstra joined the company in 2009 as group controller for Royal Haskoning and in 2011 became Finance Director. In 2012 she was appointed Corporate Director Finance for Royal HaskoningDHV.

“Britannia rules the waves” paid a glowing tribute to the maritime past of the United Kingdom. Over the past three centuries as the sun began to set on the British power, resilient U.K. with its pioneering characteristics began its voyage of transformation to become a world-class maritime services center, with one of the largest clusters of marine insurance, ship finance, law, classification societies, ship broking, education and consultancy organizations. Significantly, two factors were responsible for this change. The first being marine transport, since it was the only point of access to the British Isles, and the second was the maritime trade and naval power that have had a great impact on the maritime sector influencing the country’s economy for several centuries.

Tideland Supplies Self-Contained LED Lanterns in Sri Lanka

Tideland Signal, an international specialist in aids to marine navigation, has won the contract to supply SolaMAX solar-powered marine lanterns to guide vessels safely through the reef and into the new fishing harbour of Dikkowita on the west coast of Sri Lanka, 10 km to the north of Colombo. The new harbour is designed and built by BAM International bv for Sri Lanka's Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development under a €44 million contract funded in part by the Dutch government. Engineer on the project is Royal Haskoning.

Royal Haskoning acquired First Marine International to develop and expand its services towards the upper end of the supply chain. First Marine International has worked alongside Royal Haskoning on numerous projects over the past 10 years. Eye of Dubai Concept OKd

The consortium “Out and About in Palm Deira”, which is made up of Royal Haskoning (as architects/urban planners), MVA consultancy (transport consultants), Systra (rail consultants) and Sogreah (maritime consultants), has won the design competition for an integrated transport master plan for Palm Deira in Dubai. Palm Deira—the third Palm and a future metropolis for 1.2 million people—is currently being reclaimed from the sea. Royal Haskoning Reports Growth

Royal Haskoning reported a turnover of $204m in the first half year of 2007. This is an increase of 14% percent compared to the same period of 2006. The Denis Wilson Partnership, which was acquired recently, has also contributed to the net result for the first half year of 2007. The increase in turnover is mainly caused by autonomous growth. The United Kingdom showed a substantial growth of 28%. Turnover in Belgium and France remained on the same level. Turnover realized on the Dutch market showed an increase of 13%.
