COSCO Selects Rolls-Royce Package
Rolls-Royce won an order to provide an integrated design and equipment package for two offshore supply vessels to be built at COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd in China for Singapore based Chellsea Group. The two Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP platform supply vessels features the striking wave piercing bow designed to pierce through waves in rough seas, making it possible to keep a more constant speed, reduce fuel consumption and increase on board safety.
Rolls-Royce Wins $42m Chinese Ship Contract
Rolls-Royce has signed its largest contract with Chinese shipbuilder Sinopacific, to provide steering gear and deck machinery worth $42m. The contract covers 34,000-118,000dwt bulk carriers and 16,500 cubic metre capacity liquid petroleum gas vessels. The first equipment will be delivered in the first half of 2009. Sinopacific ship building group comprises five shipyards and two design companies.
Rolls-Royce Wins Submarine Support Contract
Rolls-Royce won a second service contract from the Ministry of Defense to ensure the safety and power performance of Royal Navy nuclear submarines, in a deal worth more than $500 million. Under this contract, the company will continue to operate and maintain the Vulcan Naval Reactor Test Establishment site at Dounreay, Scotland, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, to service and support Royal Navy programs over the next 13 years. This facility tests the operation and performance of the nuclear power plants used to support the UK submarine flotilla. On November 14, Rolls-Royce announced it had won a contract to provide a total powerplant support package, worth about $150 million over the next three years.
Rolls-Royce Wins S. American Contracts
Rolls-Royce won contracts for six platform supply vessels (PSV) worth around £45 million, including the first offshore orders from Chile. CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore) has ordered four UT-Design type UT 715 L offshore supply vessel design and equipment packages. The 3,000 tonne deadweight PSVs are to be built by Allianca shipyard near Rio de Janeiro for delivery in 2009 and 2010. The vessels will go straight into long-term charters with the Brazilian state oil company, Petrobras. The other UT-Design contract is from the Chilean shipyard Asnavales (Astilleros y Servicios Navales) S.A, which is to build two UT 745 CD (clean design) supply vessels for an international shipowner.
Rolls-Royce Wins $28.2M Contract
Rolls-Royce has won a contract worth approximately $28.2 million to provide propeller shaftlines and other equipment for the first six Royal Navy Type 45 destroyers. Technology derived from commercial marine applications helped Rolls-Royce win the naval marine contract. The company was selected, under competitive tender, by the BAE SYSTEMS Type 45 Prime Contract Office to provide a system of two propeller shaftlines per ship with steering gear and stabilisers. Rolls-Royce Gas Turbine for Combat Ship
Rolls-Royce won a contract to design the gas turbine system for the U.K. Royal Navy’s future Type 26 Global Combat Ship, which will, subject to contract, feature the marine gas turbine Rolls-Royce MT30. Rolls-Royce will work with prime contractor BAE Systems and Tognum, Rolls-Royce’s collaboration with Daimler, to design the propulsion system. This system will combine the Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbine with four of Tognum’s MTU high-speed diesel generator sets. The MT30 is derived from Rolls-Royce aero engine technology. It produces 36-40 MW.
Rolls-Royce Wins $112.5m Offshore Deal
Rolls-Royce has won its largest ever marine order in the Offshore industry in a deal worth around $112.5m. Farstad Shipping has ordered four new anchor handling ships at a total cost of more than $375.1m, to be built by Aker Yards in Norway. The ships have been designed by Rolls-Royce marine architects and will be fitted with Rolls-Royce engines, propellers, deck machinery, dynamic positioning systems and automation equipment. The four UT-Design vessels are the latest to be ordered from Rolls-Royce and mark another chapter ship design stories in commercial shipbuilding. Since the mid-1970s, over 530 of the vessels have been built or are currently on order. The new vessels being constructed are all UT 731 CD variants.
Rolls-Royce Wins Italian Shipyard Order
Rolls-Royce has signed an £18 million contract with Italian shipyard Rosetti Marino S.p.A for the design and delivery of an integrated power & propulsion and equipment system for an anchor handling vessel. The vessel will be built for Augusta Offshore S.p.A and is a repeat order of a Rolls-Royce UT 712 CD due to be delivered in June from the same yard. Due for delivery in mid 2014, the high tech vessel is specially designed and equipped for handling anchors and mooring lines in water up to 2000 metres deep. The vessel is also equipped to undertake oil recovery, fire fighting, stand by and rescue duties. Rolls-Royce will also supply the main engines, propulsion systems and gear, tunnel thrusters, rudders, deck machinery, electrical systems as well as automation and control systems.
Rolls-Royce Wins $163.2m Offshore Order
Rolls-Royce has won its largest ever offshore marine order worth $163.2m. It will deliver designs and equipment for six new Rolls-Royce UT Design offshore service vessels to OSM Schiffahrt, a joint venture between the Nordcapital Group in Germany and Norwegian ship management group OSM. OSM Schiffahrt also has options for a further six vessels. The vessels - designed by Rolls-Royce and incorporating a range of its marine equipment, including Bergen diesel engines, deck machinery, thrusters and dynamic positioning systems - will be built by Korean and Norwegian yards. Four UT 786 CD deep water anchor handlers will be built at the Sekwang shipyard for delivery in the second half of 2009. Two UT 776 CD platform supply vessels will be built at Aker Yards Brevik for delivery in 2009 and 2010.
Rolls-Royce to Supply Propulsion for Neptune Lines
Rolls-Royce won a contract to supply its Promas propulsion system for two new car and truck carrying ships which are being built in Korea for Neptune Lines. Promas is an integrated propeller and rudder system that increases efficiency and manoeuvrability. ALP Tugs Get Rolls-Royce Deck Equipment
Rolls-Royce won a $31.9m contract to deliver deck machinery for four ocean going tugs, designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions, for Dutch company ALP Maritime Services. The vessels will be constructed in Japan by Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair. The vessels are being developed for towing large structures like oil rigs and floating production units over long distances. The bollard pull for each of the four vessels will be 300 tons and they will be equipped for anchor handling. The deck machinery include a complete low pressure winch solution and a stern roller.

(MHI), with a Synchrolift at its new facility, currently being built in Portsmouth, Va. MHI's premiere Synchrolift will lift luxury yachts measuring up to 235 ft., and weighing up to 1,230 tons for repair and dry storage. With a 210 x 40 ft. platform, the shiplift will be paired with a 100-ton Travel Lift, utilizing eight specially refurbished 240-ton hoists. Scheduled for an April 2000 commission, the project also includes a marina with 130 wet slips and 320 dry boat storage slots.

Rolls-Royce Wins $39.2m Shiplift Contract
Rolls-Royce will provide the Government of South Australia with a $39.2m shiplift, designed to be a key element of a major new shipbuilding and ship repair development at Techport Australia. The Syncrolift will have capacity for ships of up to 9,300 tons, including the Royal Australian Navy’s new generation of Air Warfare Destroyers which will be built by ASC at Techport Australia in Adelaide. 156- metre-long Syncrolift for Techport Australia, under development by the Government of South Australia. It will go into service in 2009 and will include a ship transfer system from Norwegian company TTS which will move vessels between the Syncrolift and maintenance/build berths on shore.
Rolls-Royce Wins Simek OSV Contract
Rolls-Royce won a £6 million contract to provide an integrated design, power & propulsion and equipment systems package for an offshore supply vessel to be built at Norwegian ship yard Simek AS for ship owner Atlantic Offshore. The vessel is a Rolls-Royce UT 755 LC design and will be equipped with main engines, propulsion system, steering gear, rudder, deck machinery, bulk handling equipment as well as control and automation systems. The vessel will undertake transport, supply and service duties between onshore supply bases and offshore drilling sites. The deck area is arranged for transporting pipes and containers while tanks below deck are used to transport fluids including water, oil, mud and brine. The vessel will have accommodation for a crew of thirty people.

Rolls-Royce Wins $3.1 Million Contract
Rolls-Royce has landed a $3.1 million order from Ferguson Shipbuilders in Port Glasgow for an equipment package comprised of Rauma Brattvaag deck machinery, bulk handling systems and Tenfjord steering gear and rudders. The package has been ordered for a new 246 ft. (75 m) Stirling Shipping anchor handling tug-supply vessel (AHTS), which will be an enhanced version of M/V Stirling Iona, which was delivered by Ferguson earlier this year. The new AHTS will house an anchor handling and towing winch with a capacity of 380-tons pull; the winch will be the largest ever fitted to a U.K.-built ship by Brattvaag. With a gt of approximately 2,350 and a dynamic positioning system, the vessel is scheduled for a February 2002 delivery.
Rolls Royce Wins Large Dolphin Energy Contract
Rolls-Royce has been awarded contracts worth $136 million to supply technology and long-term services support to Dolphin Energy Limited which transports natural gas from Qatar to the United Arab Emirates and Oman via a 364 km subsea pipeline. Rolls-Royce will supply Dolphin Energy Limited with three industrial Trent gas turbine compression packages. The three new Trent units, each rated at 52 megawatts, will join six similar Rolls-Royce packages that went into service at Dolphin Energy’s Gas Processing Plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar in 2006. The equipment will be manufactured and packaged at the Rolls-Royce facilities in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Mount Vernon, Ohio, U.S.A. Delivery of the packaged units to Ras Laffan will be in the second and third quarters of 2013.
Rolls-Royce Wins $150M Marine Contracts
Rolls-Royce has won ship design and equipment supply contracts for offshore service and cable-laying vessels, worth approximately $150 million over the last three months, including its biggest-ever commercial marine order. Dr. Saul Lanyado, President -- Marine, Rolls-Royce, said: "This is a significant step for Rolls-Royce. Development of the marine business is key to the future strategy of the group. These orders demonstrate a growing demand for specialist offshore vessels. Rolls-Royce wins a £24 million order to design & equip four platform supply vessels (PSVs) for Brazilian ship owner Bravante Group. Rolls-Royce won a $69m order to design and equip two advanced offshore anchor handling vessels for Norwegian ship owner Farstad Shipping. The UT 731 CD vessels are designed and equipped to handle anchors for oil rigs, tow rigs to location and also serve as supply vessels. They can operate in extreme climatic conditions and ultra deep waters, undertaking precise rig manoeuvring operations in water up to 3,000m deep. Rolls-Royce to Power USN Hovercrafts
Rolls-Royce wins contract to power the U.S. Navy’s future fleet of hovercrafts, known as the Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC). The Group will work with Textron Marine & Land Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, which has been selected to build the initial development craft, in a program that could extend to 73 craft. The SSC will replace the Navy’s current fleet of Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) hovercraft over the next 20 years. The new hovercraft will be used to rapidly deploy personnel and vehicles between U.S. Navy ships and the shore.
