ICMS Installs CTV Pontoon for Scotland’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Inland and Coastal Marina Systems (ICMS) said Tuesday it had installed a new 30-meter pontoon for the Montrose Port Authority to service the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, Scotland’s largest wind farm.The new 30m x 4.4m pontoon will allow safe berthing and access for crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to the new operations and maintenance (O&M) base for the wind farm which is currently under construction 27km off the coast of Angus."Located on Montrose Port’s South Quay, the new pontoon is topped with GRP decking suitable for a commercial application offering excellent anti-slip properties.

China Merchants Offshore Technology Research Center (CM-OTRC), the R&D center for China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMI) of Shenzhen, China, have completed the basic design of the OOS Zeelandia a new semisubmersible crane vessel (SSCV) that, when built, will have the largest lifting capacity in the world. Dockwise Bags Marine Transport Contracts Worth $50 Mln

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Dockwise has recently been awarded a number of marine transport contracts with a combined contract value of approximately $50 million. Dockwise was awarded a contract by Husky Oil Operations Ltd. for the transportation of the West White Rose Topside from Texas, U.S. to Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The contract includes the engineering, preparation and execution of the loading, transport and discharge operation of the topside. The topside will be skidded onto a large barge, which in turn will be floated onto the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Dockwise Vanguard that will transport the cargo to Newfoundland and Labrador. The transport is expected to take place in 2021.

Containerized Control Room Delivered for SSCV Thialf

ELA Container Offshore GmbH delivered an offshore office container to Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), a marine contractor in the international offshore oil and gas industry. The container was placed on board semisubmersible crane vessel (SSCV) Thialf and was used as a control room to operate their anchor winches. The Thialf is HMC's largest SSCV, capable of a tandem lift of 15,600 tons. Its two cranes provide for a depth reach lowering capability as well as a heavy lift capacity to install topsides.

SembCorp Bags US$1bn Semi-sub Deal

Sembcorp Marine has signed an engineering and construction contract worth about US$1 billion to build the world's largest semi-submersible crane vessel for a unit of Netherlands-based Heerema Offshore Services B.V. Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2018, the DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities. The contract follows a letter-of-intent to build the vessel signed between Sembmarine's wholly owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd and Heerema Offshore Services in March this year. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area.
