Coldharbour Marine Names Stephen CEO

UK-based in-tank ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) manufacturer Coldharbour Marine said on Monday it has appointed Don Stephen as Chief Executive Officer.With over 30 years blue chip industry experience, Stephen's career spans technical and leadership roles at De Nora Water Technology, Severn Trent Services, GE and Alstom both in the UK and internationally.

De Nora Acquires Severn Trent's Water Purification Business

De Nora announces the completion of the acquisition of the Water Purification group of Severn Trent Services. The new business line, called De Nora Water Technologies, will be focused on delivering sustainable and innovative water and wastewater technologies for municipal, marine and energy related water treatment applications. AER Supply to Showcase Sewage Treatment Technology

AER Supply, an international distributor of marine products, is featuring a cost-effective MEPC-compliant onboard sewage treatment system for the U.S. commercial marine market at the 2013 WorkBoat Show. AER was named earlier this year as the distributor for Severn Trent De Nora marine wastewater disinfection systems for the Gulf Coast and other regions of the United States. The Severn Trent De Nora MARINER OMNIPURE Series 55 marine sewage treatment systems are designed specifically to provide cost-effective treatment of gray and black water on small vessels, workboats and yachts. Severn Trent Services receives the 2013 Global Water & Wastewater Disinfection Systems Technology Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan. The award, which recognizes the company as a pioneer of stable, safe and sustainable electrochlorination products, was presented at the 2013 European Growth Innovation & Leadership Awards Banquet in London, United Kingdom . “Severn Trent Services has established itself as the undisputed technology leader in the field of electrochlorination disinfection through its joint venture, Severn Trent De Nora,” said Frost & Sullivan research analyst, Vandhana Ravi.

U.S. Coast Guard Accepts Nine BWTS as AMS

Followers of the Ballast Water Treatement System (BWTS) situation (ie. presumably anyone reading this publication) were heartened last month when the U.S Coast Guard announced its acceptance of nine BWTS as Alternate Management Systems (AMS), helping to finally bring some clarity to ship owners, yards and suppliers. On April 15, 2013, the USCG announced the acceptance of the ballast water treatment systems as AMS in compliance with the service’s March 2012 final rule for Standards for Living Organisms in Ships’ Ballast Water Discharged (SLOSBWD) in U.S. waters.

Balpure BWTS Receives USCG Certification

The IMO Type-Approved Balpure ballast water treatment system from Severn Trent De Nora has become one of the first ballast water treatment technologies to receive the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG) Alternate Management System (AMS) certification. AMS certification identifies an IMO Type-Approved system that meets the USCG requirements. Severn Trent Expands Wastewater Markets, Asia Pacific

Severn Trent Services announced a major expansion of its sales and service operations in the Asia Pacific region with recent hirings and promotions of six water and wastewater professionals – four in its Shanghai, China, office and two in Singapore. The moves will enable the company to take advantage of fast-growing business opportunities in the region through the sales and service of its line of water and wastewater technologies. Severn Trent Serves Oil Refinery in Pakistan

Severn Trent Services recently provided multiple water treatment technologies, including reverse osmosis and electrodeionization (RO/EDI) systems, for Bosicor Oil Pakistan Limited, a private sector crude oil refinery under construction in Pakistan, which will have a capacity of 115,000 bpd and will be the largest crude oil refinery on completion (3Q 2010). Bosicor Pakistan Limited, an associated company of the refinery under construction, is already in the business of crude oil refining. Severn Trent Opens New Branch Office in Abu Dhabi

Severn Trent Services has announced the opening of a new branch operations office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The office, the company’s second in the Middle East, will support the business development, sales, local sourcing and technical service efforts of Severn Trent Services’ business units that provide water and wastewater treatment technologies, metering products, operations and management services, as well as products for the marine and offshore markets. The branch office will offer local factory-direct, after-sales support in the entire Gulf region for all of these products, including those sold to the offshore oil and gas industry. Severn Trent Services’ other Middle East office is in Cairo, Egypt.

Moyer to Assist Severn Trent Management Services

Severn Trent Services has announced that Gary Moyer will work with Severn Trent Management Services in a full-time consulting capacity. In this role, Moyer will assist in reacquiring districts formerly managed by Severn Trent by leveraging relationships established over his three decades in the Florida community development district (CDD) market. In addition, he will share his extensive management experience with Severn Trent’s district managers who currently serve more than 100 district clients throughout Florida. Moyer assumed his role effective June 1 and works from Severn Trent’s Celebration, Fla. office. Severn Trent Acquires Quay

Severn Trent Services has announced the acquisition of the business of Quay Technologies Ltd. of Berks, United Kingdom, manufacturers of a proprietary ultraviolet (UV) technology for use in water and wastewater disinfection. Quay Technologies’ patented microwave-powered UV systems offer significantly improved reliability and bulb life, resulting in lower overall operating costs when compared with traditional technologies. Severn Trent Services will offer the Quay UV systems to the water and wastewater treatment market under the new brand name, MicroDynamics. Since 1998, Quay Technologies has provided UV solutions to municipal water and wastewater clients.
