MPC Container Ships Acquires 5 Feeder Vessels from Simatech

Oslo based MPC Container Ships ASA said it has reached a deal to acquire five feeder containerships presently managed and operated by Simatech Shipping & Forwarding L.L.C., Dubai for a total purchase price of $41.9 million in cash.    MPC said it will establish wholly-owned subsidiaries to take over the five vessels, which include Sima Pride (1,201 TEU, built 2004), Sima Perfect (1,221 TEU, built 2005), Sima Prestige (1,221 TEU, built 2005), Sima Sapphire (1,440 TEU, built 2006) and Sima Sadaf (1,440 TEU, built 2007).   Physical takeover is expected in the first half of 2018, lifting the MPC Container Ships fleet to 64 feeder units.   MPC Container Ships was formed in April 2017 and owns and operates a portfolio of containerships between 1,000 and 3,000 TEU.

Adani Hazira Container Terminal Hits Record Volume

Adani Hazira Port Pvt. Ltd (AHPPL), a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and operator, recorded a container throughput of 3,02,755 TEUs (Y-o-Y growth of 96% for FY 2015 -16) which is the highest throughput since the inception of the container terminal operations at the port in April 2013. “This is a remarkable achievement by the Adani Hazira Container Terminal TEAM. Our focus will be to provide operational excellence with the highest level of safety and a customer centric approach. The strategic advantages of Hazira include world class infrastructure to handle container vessels & seamless rail and road connectivity to the cargo catchment centres in South Gujarat, Central India & Northern Maharashtra.

APM Terminals Pipavav Welcomes INDFEX Service

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd), one of western India’s gateway ports, today announced the commencement of the INDFEX service at Pipavav. The INDFEX ( India – Far East Express ) is run in consortium with Wanhai, K-Line, Shipping Corporation of India, Pacific International Lines ( PIL ) & Simatech, with Wan Hai deploying two vessels, and the others deploying one each. The service provides a weekly connection between the Far East and India. The first vessel m.v. WANHAI 509 berthed at Pipavav at 1048 hours / 14 March, 2016. Officials of APM Terminals Pipavav accorded a grand welcome to the vessel and her crew, captained by Capt. Ma Ke Zeng. The operations were carried out successfully, using the new Post Panamax cranes, recently installed at the port.

Simatech Begins Coastal Shipping Service in India

Sima Marine, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Simatech Shipping, one of the largest container feeder servicing companies in the world operating 54 ships, has launched coastal container shipping services in India. The coastal container shipping service will operate from Kochi connecting Mangalore in Karnataka, Goa and Mundra in Gujarat. Simatech Shipping is one of the largest container feeder servicing companies in the world operating 54 ships with partners, including 15 of its own. For the exclusive coastal service operations in the country, the Indian subsidiary has also acquired two 1,500-TEU container vessels, Sima Godavari and Sima Narmada, which have already started their operations now. These ships are now sailing with Indian flag to work within the cabotage law.

First Iranian Ship Docks at Oman's Sohar Port

The first cargo ship delivering Iranian goods docked at the Omani port of Sohar,  a few weeks after Tehran and Muscat opened a new shipping route. The vessel, titled Genaveh 12,  container with a capacity of 96 TEUs, is the first ship put into operation in the new Iran-Oman shipping line, which was opened some two weeks ago. Iran and Oman have recently established a direct shipping line between the two countries to enhance maritime trade. The line will have two sailings per month. According to officials, more vessels will join the line to increase the cycle of maritime transportation. Other ports in both the countries will also be linked in the near future.

KPCT Launches New Gulf Service

Containerized volumes are steadily increasing on the East Coast of India. Keeping pace with the growth, Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd. (KPCT) now offers a new service to the Gulf sector. Simatechin association with Evergreen Line recently launched a joint CCG Service.The first sailing of this weekly service commenced at KPCT by the maiden call of M.V. Taroko on May 21, 2015. This 28 day service will utilize four container ships of around 2,000 TEU each; three operated by Simatech and one by Evergreen Line.The service provides direct connectivity from Krishnapatnam Port (India) to Colombo (Sri Lanka), Cochin (India), Jebel Ali (UAE) andSohar (Oman) ports.

Evergreen Launches India-Gulf Service

Evergreen Line announced it will partner with Simatech, a feeder operator based in Dubai, in launching a joint Chennai-Colombo-Gulf Service (CCG) service next month aiming to improve its service on the India-Gulf trade. The CCG service will utilize four containerships of around 2,000 TEU each; one to be operated by Evergreen Line and the remaining three by Simatech. The first sailing of the weekly service will be from Colombo on May 9th and call at Vizag (India), Krishnapatnam (India), Chennai (India), Colombo, Cochin (India), Jebel Ali (UAE), Sohar (Oman), Cochin and Colombo once more. China Shipyard to Build New Sematech Container Ships

UAE-based Simatech Shipping has inked its first containership order after 8 years for up to four 4,350-TEU wide beam boxships with China‘s Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding. Ship Newbuilding Market Remains Active

The newbuilding market has continued to remain active with various new orders being reported placed in a variety of the conventional sectors, including both the Dry, Container markets and PCTC’s, reports the Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. In the dry bulk market we continue to see a steady stream of orders surfacing in the handymax sector, whilst the other sectors have seen a range of sizes being contracted. In Dry: clients of Spar shipping are reported to have placed an order at Hantong Shipyard for a pair of SDARI Dolphin 64K bulkers. These vessels follow a variety of ultramax orders at the yard this year and are expected to deliver in 1H 2015, pricing stands in the region of USD 25 Mill.

Hamburg Süd Expands Presence in the Asia-India/Pakistan Trade

Effective from 5 January 2011, Hamburg Süd will expand its presence in the trade between Asia and India/Pakistan by joining the new service operated in cooperation with Evergreen and Simatech. The new service (ASIP 2) will deploy 6 x 2,700 TEU (nominal) vessels and has the following port rotation: Xingang – – – – Hong Kong – – Tanjung Pelepas – Port Kelang – Nhava Sheva – – – Port Kelang – Tanjung Pelepas – – Xingang. East Africa Joint Service Launches

Evergreen Line, Wan Hai Lines Ltd (WHL), and Simatech Shipping have agreed to operate an East Africa Service (EAF) with three ships of 1,200 TEU capacity. Evergreen, WHL, and SSF will each operate one vessel. The East Africa (EAF) service will have the following port rotation: Colombo - Mombasa - Dar es Salaam - Colombo The first EAF sailing is scheduled to commence from Colombo on May 11, 2010.

Evergreen to Offer Joint Service in Middle East Market

Global container carrier Evergreen will commence a joint service on November 4 with Simatech Shipping for a weekly service covering following rotation: Port Kelang - Singapore - Nhava Sheva - Dubai -Jebel Ali Bandar Abbas - Mundra - Nhava Sheva - Port Kelang The service will utilize four 1,100-TEU container vessels, three from Simatech and one Gallant Wave--from Evergreen, for a 28-day transit time schedule. For Simatech, founded in Dubai in 1992 by the Iranian ILS group, it is its first trade route outside of the Middle East/Indian sub-continent.
