Eight-Band Rope Mop Skimmer
NRC Guardian demonstrates an Eight-Band Rope Mop Skimmer system. Rope is dragged through the spilled oil. During this process oil adheres to the rope fibers. Just like the old fashioned wringer washer machines, the rope is then run through a series of rollers which squeeze the oil out of the mop into a trough which is pumped into temporary storage containers.
Weir Disk Skimmer
Boom has contained the spilled oil while the weir disk skimmer's oliofelic disk passes through the oil. The oil adheres to disks which is squeezed off to a trough and pumped into temporary storage containers.
