Yinson Bags $5.3B Deal for its First FPSO Project in Angola
Malaysian company Yinson has secured a firm contract to provide and maintain an FPSO for Azule Energy, a BP-Eni joint venture, in Angola.The contract, awarded by Eni Angola, is for the provision of the FPSO for the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Angola (“FPSO Agogo”).According to Yinson, the contract is worth about $5.3 billion in total and has a firm period of 15 years from the date of the final FPSO's acceptance. Azule Energy will have the option to extend for another five years. The FPSO Agogo is expected to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2025.
SBM Offshore to Build Fourth FPSO for Exxon in Guyana
Dutch FPSO specialist SBM Offshore has won contracts to perform Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for an FPSO for Exxon's Yellowtail development offshore Guyana. This will be SBM Offshore's largest-ever FPSO.The FEED contract for what will be Guyana's fourth FPSO, and fourth delivered by SBM Offshore, triggers the initial release of funds by ExxonMobil to begin FEED activities and secure a Fast4Ward hull. The Fast4Ward program includes a new build, multi-Purpose Floater hull combined with several standardized topsides modules.
China Starts Production at 100,000 DWT Deepwater Semi-sub FPSO
China Classification Society (CCS) is reporting the successful surveying of the world’s first 100,000 DWT deep-water semi-submersible floating production storage and offloading installation (FPSO).Dubbed Shen Hai Yi Hao, the platform is formally commencing production after being installed at the Lingshui (LS) 17-2 gas field in the South China Sea following an announcement by Wang Dongjin, the chairman of its operator China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) which is China's largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas.

BP's behemoth Argos offshore oil platform, the centerpiece of the company's $9 billion Mad Dog 2 project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, has arrived in the U.S. after a 16,000-mile journey from South Korea.The platform, loaded onboard Boskalis' BOKA Vanguard heavy transport vessel, had left South Korea on February 3, and it has this week arrived in the Kiewit Offshore Services fabrication yard in Ingleside, Texas."The arrival of the new floating production unit is a major milestone towards the completion of Mad Dog 2.

Aker Solutions reports Q4 2018 revenue of $813 million, an 8% rise compared to Q4 2017 powered by “significant international awards in a competitive, but improving market.” In total, order intake for the quarter was $615.6 million, leaving the company with an order backlog of more than $4 billion. Aker Solutions Wins Jotun FEED Contract
The newly formed exploration and production (E&P) company Vår Energi is progressing the redevelopment of the Balder and Ringhorne area offshore Norway and a FEED contract for the Jotun FPSO life extension has now been signed with Aker Solutions.In total, about 20 billion NOK ($2.3 billion) will be invested in the redevelopment of the area, which includes the first NCS license area, PL 001 from 1965, said the largest independent E&P company on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).Part of the redevelopment, is the Balder X Project. MODEC Secures FPSO FEED Contract
MODEC, Inc. subsidiary MODEC International Inc. has been awarded a contract by ConocoPhillips Australia, as operator of the Barossa joint venture, for the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Australian waters.Under the contract, MODEC will participate in the FEED on a competitive basis against a JV of two other contractors.Barossa is an offshore gas and light condensate project that proposes to provide a new source of gas to the existing Darwin LNG facility. The offshore development concept includes subsea production system and gas export pipeline as well as the FPSO, located approximately 300 kilometers north of Darwin, Australia.
BP Selects McDermott, BHGE for Subsea Contracts
McDermott International and Baker Hughes (BHGE), a GE company announced the selection of front-end engineering design (FEED) studies in advance of a substantial engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for BP’s Tortue/Ahmeyim Field Development, a major gas project located on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal. During this initial engineering phase, McDermott will work on defining the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) scope for the project, while BHGE will focus on the subsea production system (SPS) scope. The FEED is scheduled to begin and complete this year. The agreement contains a mechanism to allow transition of the contract to a lump sum EPCI contract at a later date.
Aker to Design Johan Castberg FPSO Accommodations
Aker Solutions won a contract from Sembcorp Marine to design the living quarters for the Johan Castberg development's floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The work scope includes detailed design engineering of the living quarters and technical specifications for the equipment and supplies required for Sembcorp to construct the accommodation unit for the Statoil-operated development. Johan Castberg is the largest oil discovery in the Norwegian Barents Sea.
Wood Group Wins Subsea Contract Supporting CNOOC
UK-based energy services company Wood Group has been awarded a new contract by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to support the Lingshui 17-2 gas development in the Qiongdongnan basin of the South China Sea. Subsea and flow assurance services will be provided under the contract, which is effective immediately and will be supported by Wood Group’s offices in Perth, Australia and London. An independent review for the development’s subsea production system design and a special study and design for its gas export pipeline will be delivered. Subsea Construction Vessel Launched in Azerbaijan
The vessel was named Khankendi by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, at a ceremony in Baku Shipyard and launched by the Shah Deniz consortium. Baku Shipyard LLC, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), has completed a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) for the Caspian region. The Khankendi will be deployed to the Shah Deniz field where it is expected to perform subsea installation and construction work over the next eleven years.
Statoil Inks Subsea pacts with Duo
Statoil Petroleum AS has signed Master Service Agreements with Aker Solutions ASA and OneSubsea Processing AS. The agreements signed form the basis for potential new EPC contracts (engineering, procurement and construction) for subsea equipment in the medium term future. An EPC option agreement for subsea production system (SPS) has also been signed with OneSubsea, including framework agreements for subsea operations services and subsea add-ons. Last year Statoil also signed a Master Service Agreement and an EPC contract including options for EPC project with FMC Kongsberg Subsea AS for Johan Sverdrup. “In light of the current challenges the industry is facing the suppliers have demonstrated commitment and drive to break the cost curve and enhance competitiveness.
DNV GL Wins Ichthys LNG Mega Project Contract
DNV GL has secured a contract to provide in-service verification and classification services to a range of facilities at the Ichthys LNG project in Australia. The contract marks INPEX’s commitment to continue working with DNV GL as it prepares to transition from the project execution phase to the operational phase of the mega project. DNV GL has provided vendor inspection, verification and offshore classification support to the USD 34 billion venture since 2012. Azeri Shipyard, BP Sign Vessel Construction Contract
Azeri state energy company SOCAR's shipyard and British oil major BP have signed a $378 million deal to design and build a subsea construction vessel for the Shah Deniz II gas project, BP said on Wednesday. Azerbaijan's biggest gas field, Shah Deniz is being developed by consortium partners BP, Statoil, SOCAR and others. Shah Deniz I has been pumping gas since 2006 and has an annual production capacity of about 10 billion cubic metres of natural gas. The next phase, Shah Deniz II, is important for Europe in terms of providing an alternative to gas supplies from Russia's Gazprom.
Subsea Energy Production Beats Topside Method Says ABB

Aker Solutions Awarded Moho Contract
Aker Solutions received a Letter of Award from Total for the delivery of a subsea production system for the Moho Nord project in the Republic of the Congo. The contract value is approximately $850 million (U.S.). Barents Sea Oil Terminal: Development Concept Chosen
Statoil and its partners have chosen a development concept for the Skrugard field in the Barents Sea. The concept includes a floating production unit with a pipeline to shore and a terminal for oil from the Skrugard field at Veidnes outside Honningsvåg in Finnmark. The field is scheduled to come on stream in 2018. "The decision to bring Skrugard oil ashore at Veidnes is a key element of the further development of Norwegian oil and gas industry. Offshore W. Africa Subsea Equipment Order for FMC
FMC Technologies, Inc.wins order from CNR International Ltd. for subsea equipment for the Baobab field, offshore Ivory Coast. The Baobab field is located in Block CI-40 West Africa approximately 16 miles (25 kilometers) offshore from the Ivory Coast. FMC Technologies' scope of supply includes six subsea trees , eight wellheads , three manifolds , and a Subsea Control System including subsea distribution systems and associated topside control systems . The equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2014. China Pearl River Estuary Oil Flows
CNOOC Limited announce that Panyu 4-2/5-1 & Liuhua 4-1 oil fields in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, South China Sea, start production. Panyu 4-2/5-1 oil field has an average water depth of about 100 meters and an adjustment project has been designed to share the existing facilities to develop this oil field more effectively, and it is expected to hit its peak production in 2014. The Company holds 75.5% interest and acts as the operator of Panyu 4-2/5-1 oil field; its other partner, Burlington Resources China holds the remaining 24.5% interest. Liuhua 4-1 oil field has an average water depth of about 268 meters. In view of the features of the oil field, the Company built a new subsea production system while sharing the surrounding facilities for overall development.
Aker Solutions Sign Subsea Alvheim Contract
Aker Solutions sign contract with Marathon Oil Norge for the delivery of subsea trees to the Alvheim field on the Norwegian continental shelf. The contract includes the delivery of four subsea trees and associated equipment. The contract is part of the frame agreement, covering the North Sea and Europe, between Marathon Oil Norge, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation, and Aker Solutions. "Our dedicated subsea teams in Norway and the UK look forward to execute another project on behalf of Marathon. Aker Solutions Opens Malaysia Base
International oil services company Aker Solutions has expanded its subsea business by establishing a subsea lifecycle service base in Labuan, Malaysia. The objective is to support all installed and future shallow and deepwater projects within the Asia Pacific region. China Subsea Contract for Technip
Technip in a consortium with Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC) wins a substantial subsea contract in China. The contract, value €200 million (Technip share: around €110 million) was awarded by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Deepwater Development Limited is for the South China Sea deepwater gas development project in the Panyu field, located about 150 kilometers South of Hong Kong. The development consists in a new subsea production system with six wells and its associated control system tied up to a new central processing platform. The contract covers the supply and installation of a 10” and a 6” diameter clad-lined pipelines, of steel tube umbilicals*, and associated equipments.
