Survitec Group Completes Merger with WMS Safety Business

Survitec Group, a provider of critical safety and survival technology to the marine and defence markets, has announced the completion of its merger with Wilhelmsen’s marine safety business. The deal includes the transfer of all Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS (WMS)’ safety related systems, products, services and competence to Survitec. The combined business will operate under the name Survitec Group. Survitec Group will have access to a £1.5 billion ($1.9 billion)  addressable global market and will have over 3,000 employees in more than 35 countries. The combined group will have a revenue of ~c.£400m and will create value for customers as a result of the cost and revenue synergies and the end-to-end marine safety offering.

Survitec, Ocenco Team Up to Meet EEBD Replacement Demand

Survitec Group, one of the world’s leading marine safety companies, is now working in partnership with Ocenco to replace thousands of M-20.2 Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs) that are reaching the end of their service life. When SOLAS amendment regulations II-2/13.3.4 and 13.4.3 came into force on 1 July 2002, all vessels had to be equipped with EEBDs. At the time, one of the most popular choices was the maintenance-free Ocenco M-20.2 EEBD. The 15-year service life on the first wave of products purchased to satisfy SOLAS is approaching, and many will expire in 2017. To help meet the high demand for replacement units, Survitec and Ocenco have agreed to work together.

Arctic Range of Liferafts Introduced

Ship operators working in polar regions can now equip vessels with liferafts from the SurvitecZodiac range that have been manufactured to meet Arctic operating conditions. Survitec's Evacuation Systems in Focus at SMM

Survitec Group is promoting its range of Marine Evacuation Systems (MES) at SMM 2014. The company said it can supply systems to suit every type of vessel, from small high speed ferries through to mid-sized passenger ships, large ROPAX and cruise ships. In 1979 the group launched the world's first MES. Since then, Survitec has continued to develop its MES range. It now includes systems manufactured under the RFD, SurvitecZodiac, DSB, RFD Toyo, DBC and Brude brand names. The DSB Cat-Slide MES, Brude KOPAS and SurvitecZodiac Evacuation Slide systems are designed principally for smaller ferries and passenger vessels with low freeboards. Easy to operate, these systems can typically be deployed with minimal input from the ship's crew.

Survitec to Display Growing Portfolio at SMM

Visitors to SMM 2014 will be able to find out more about Survitec Group's growing portfolio of products and services for the cruise, ferry, cargo, tanker and offshore shipping markets. At this year's show Survitec will be highlighting its RFD, SurvitecZodiac, DSB, DBC and Brude Marine Evacuation Systems (MES), Crewsaver lifejackets, Brude telescopic gangways and Brude fast rescue boats like the HD 720. Survitec will also be promoting its Global Liferaft Hire program, which leverages the largest service network of any liferaft manufacturer in the world.

Survitec to Exhibit Escape Slides at SMM

Survitec Group announced that it will showcase its SurvitecZodiac range of escape slides and liferafts at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg as part of the Survitec Group Stand (Hall B5, Booth 324) and will include presentations of what the company calls the most advanced escape slide systems on the market. Notable among these is the fully automatic ESS (Escape Slide System) MES escape slide system that can be launched at the touch of a button and made ready for use without any crew involvement.

New Liferaft for Offshore Platforms

Survitec Group is announcing a new davit-launched liferaft aimed at meeting the escape and survival needs of workers, passengers and crew on offshore platforms or high freeboard vessels. The liferafts are the newest addition to the comprehensive range of escape slides and rafts manufactured under the SurvitecZodiac brand, and incorporate the latest expertise and innovation in escape equipment design and technology. They also form part of the Survitec Group’s broad range of Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) for offshore platforms and vessels.

Survitec Liferafts Earn RRR Approval

The inland waterways of Russia can now benefit form a new standard of safety equipment following the approval granted to the Survitec Group’s Survitec Zodiac brand by the Russian River Register (RRR). The approval was granted after inspectors from the Register completed a detailed study of the liferafts, escape slides and rescue boats manufactured by Survitec Group under the Survitec Zodiac brand. This included verifying their reliability, manufacturing processes and quality control methods employed at the company’s facility in Chevanceaux, France.

Latest version of the SurvitecZodiac MIS MES escape slide & liferaft system is fitted to the new ferry 'Uraniborg'. The Uraniborg, owned by Ventrafiken, was recently completed at the Hvide Sande shipyard in Denmark and has just entered service between Landskrona and the island of Ven located in the Oresund between Sweden and Denmark. The new ferry is fitted with two SurvitecZodiac escape slide systems that each contain two 151-person open reversible liferafts. Survitec Group to Unveil its latest technical advance in marine evacuation systems in September at SMM. During SMM 2012, visitors to the Survitec Group stand will have the first opportunity to observe the new remote life raft launch feature for the world-leading SurvitecZodiac MIS (Medium Inflatable Slide) Escape Slide System. On display in Hall B1.OG on Stand 600, the innovative feature of the new SurvitecZodiac system enables a second liferaft to be remotely launched after the double track escape slide has been deployed and its first 150 person liferaft has been automatically inflated.

Ocean Safety Signs Contract With SurvitecZodiac

U.K. marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has agreed a three year UK service and distribution agreement with SurvitecSAS to supply the full range of SOLAS products including liferafts from 6-151 persons, evacuation systems, slides and rescue boats. The contract confirms Ocean Safety’s long-established relationship with SurvitecZodiac as the largest UK distributor. “This is the logical step for Ocean Safety,” comments Sales Director Mark Hart. “This development further strengthens our close relationship with SurvitecZodiac.

Austal chooses Survitec for new Fast Ferries

Austal Ships has selected Survitec Zodiac escape slides for the Perle Express and the Liberty vessels. Both are newly constructed 47m fast ferries and were completed at the Austal yard in Henderson, Western Austalia. Perle Express and Liberty entered service in October with their owner L’Express des Iles and are in use on routes between Guadeloupe, Les Saintes, Marie Galante, Dominique, Martinique and St Lucia.
