HAV Group Acquires DP Specialist Undheim Systems

Norway's HAV Group has completed the acquisition of Undheim Systems AS, a provider of dynamic positioning (DP) systems for vessels. Industry-First: SEA-KIT's USV Gets LR Certificate

UK-based unmanned surface vessel developer SEA-KIT has said it has been awarded the first-ever Unmanned Marine Systems (UMS) certificate by Lloyd’s Register for its USV built for Fugro."SEA-KIT has worked closely with Lloyd’s Register since early 2020 in a concerted effort to achieve the highest standards for the Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) sector, culminating with their latest 12m X-class USV for leading geo-data specialist, Fugro, being awarded thenew UMS certification on 28 June 2021.

New Software Aims to Transform Ship Maintenance

A consortium of technology suppliers led by BAE Systems is developing software that monitors the equipment, fuel and energy performance of a ship to provide real time information that will help the U.K. Royal Navy and commercial organizations better manage their fleets. The technology known as Ship Energy Assessment – Condition Optimization & Routing Enhancement System (SEA-CORES) analyzes big data from the complex systems on board a ship to provide a live model of its performance wherever it is in the world.

Subsea 7 Teams up with OneSubsea

Subsea 7 and Houston-based OneSubsea have announced the signing a global alliance agreement to combine resources and collaborate on selected projects. The firms will jointly design, develop and deliver integrated subsea development solutions. OneSubsea is owned by Cameron and Schlumberger. The alliance will bring together Subsea 7’s experience and technology in seabed to surface engineering, construction and life-of-field services with OneSubsea’s unique reservoir expertise and state-of-the-art subsea production and processing systems technologies. The alliance will combine both companies’ resources to collaborate on selected projects, engaging early to improve field development planning from the reservoir to the production facility.

Aker Solutions Buys Separation Specialist

Aker Solutions is buying Separation Specialists Inc., a California-based provider of produced water de-oiling products and field services, which strengthens the international oil services company's position in the produced water de-oiling segment. "With the acquisition of Separation Specialists, we are able to offer a complete produced water de-oiling solution from one vendor. There is also an excellent cultural fit between the two entities, which we look forward to further developing," says David Merle, head of Aker Solutions' process systems business. Aker Solutions will immediately be able to offer Separation Specialists' products, such as nutshell filters (NSF), mechanical induced gas flotation (IGF) and field services, through its global distribution and execution network.

WRSystems Provides Navy with Systems Upgrades

W R Systems, Ltd. (WRSystems) is providing the U.S. Navy with a range of systems technologies and upgrades. Products and services include a depth reporting system developed and produced by WRSystems and the Department of the Navy, which was partially funded through the Secretary of Defenses’ Acquisition Challenge program. The Digital Depth Detection (D3) system is a technology upgrade for an older system, which is becoming increasingly hard to support. WRSystems, a systems engineering firm in Norfolk, Virginia, also is producing speed indicator transmitter systems and small combatant craft integrated bridge systems for the Navy. In addition to these systems, the firm has recently launched a new commercial maritime green venture, Emsys, a continuous stack emissions monitoring system.

The 13th annual ShipTech event will be held at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi, March 9-10, 2010. Alion $3.2m DoD Task Order

Alion Science and Technology was awarded a $3.2m task order to maximize the efficiency and accessibility of scientific and technical information (STI) used by the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Weapon Systems Technology Information Analysis Center (WSTIAC). Under the three-year contract, Alion, which operates WSTIAC for the DoD, will help improve the management and use of information related to conventional and directed energy weapons systems technology. New Technology to Debut at Europort

Europort 2001 — the 30th edition of the exhibition — scheduled for November 13 to 17 at the Amsterdam RAI, is traditionally an event where companies from around the globe debut innovative new marine equipment and technology. While the exhibition is often considered a regional affair, the event indeed fulfills its international billing with a roster of more than 550 companies from around the globe, and halls filled with ship owners and operators with an equal international distribution. CAD/CAM: Producing Better, More Cost Efficient Ships

The advent of software solutions has infiltrated nearly every sector of the maritime market - from propulsion performance monitoring packages to personnel. It arguably has had no greater impact, though, than in the design and construction of new vessels. CAD/CAM/CAE programs are invaluable assets to the designer, builder and operator of vessels of all sizes and dimensions. Not only do advanced programs allow for the creation of the an efficient and cost effective ship structure and outfitting, they provide for enhanced manufacturing practices and techniques, and increasingly help devise a life-cycle maintenance and care plan which can tack profitable years onto a vessel's life.

Texas Taking Bids on Offshore Wind Leases

The Texas General Land Office is accepting bids for the right to produce energy in the Gulf of Mexico. This is the first time in the U.S. that leases for offshore wind production are being put in a competitive bid process. The bids must be received no later than Oct. 2. The company, Louisiana-based Wind Energy Systems Technologies LLC, is conducting meteorological tests and plans to start putting power into the grid in 2009.(Source: http://www.dallasnews.com)
