ABB inks Deal for Orange Marine Cable Repair Newbuilds

ABB has won a contract to deliver a fully integrated electrical power, propulsion and automation system for two hybrid-electric cable repair vessels being built for French shipowner Orange Marine at Colombo Dockyard PLC in Sri Lanka.The vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2028 and 2029, will support submarine cable maintenance operations across the Atlantic and Indian oceans as well as the Mediterranean, Black and Red seas. UK Coastguard Replacing Emergency Radio Network

The U.K.'s Maritime and Coastguard Agency is investing over £170 million ($221.5 million) in a new radio network for Her Majesty’s Coastguard. The new network will be built and maintained by telent Technology Services Ltd. and is a significant investment in telecommunications infrastructure in rural areas.The existing network will be replaced with a modern and resilient fiber-based hybrid network, that will provide increased reliability, bandwidth and security.The new network will ensure HM Coastguard can continue to communicate with ships in U.K.

First Meet of Arctic Economic Council held

A meeting of the Arctic Economic Council (AEC) was held in Saint Petersburg on the premises of SCF Arctic, a subsidiary of Sovcomflot Group (PAO Sovcomflot), on 7-8 February 2017. The meeting was attended by business community representatives from Russia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Canada, and the USA, as well as several organizations of indigenous peoples of the Arctic: Gwich'in Council International, Aleut International Association, Arctic Athabaskan Council, Inuit Circumpolar Association, and RAIPON (Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North). This event was the first ever meeting held by the AEC in the Russian Federation.

Keppel Launches Greenfield Data Centre

Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation Ltd (Keppel T&T) officially opened its Almere Data Centre 2 today, its first greenfield data centre in Europe*. The opening of the facility was attended by Guest-of-Honour Prof. Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Partner, Corporate Responsibility at EY. Intelsat, Kymeta Enter Satellite Tech Partnership

Intelsat S.A. and Kymeta Corporation today announced an agreement to design and produce flat, electronically steerable, Ku-band satellite antenna solutions for the Intelsat EpicNG high throughput satellite (HTS) platform. The first Intelsat EpicNG satellite is expected to launch in late 2015. Kymeta’s flat and thin satellite tracking antennas will be designed to work with Intelsat’s satellite fleet, providing connectivity in sectors for which traditional antennas are not currently practical or feasible, including the maritime industry.

On February 4, Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Administrator/CEO Alberto Alemán Zubieta and Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) General Managing Director Richard Julius López Ramírez signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly foster commercial activity between the two entities. General Dynamics Report 4Q Results

General Dynamics reported 2001 fourth quarter net earnings of $246 million, $1.21 per share on a fully diluted basis, on sales of $3.5 billion. This represents an 11 percent earnings per share increase over the fourth quarter of 2000, when net earnings were $219 million, $1.09 per share, on sales of $2.7 billion. The quarter ended on December 31, 2001. Full year 2001 net earnings on a recurring basis were $915 million, $4.51 per fully diluted share, on sales of $12.2 billion. Stratos Announces Availability of BGAN

Stratos Global Corp. has begun offering Inmarsat BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) service in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Coverage is scheduled to be extended to North and South America in the second quarter of 2006.
