Hyundai Inks Licensing Deal for MAN's TCT Turbochargers

RSC Bio Solutions’ EALs Available through Drew Marine

RSC Bio Solutions said its high performance Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) are now available through Drew Marine’s global supply chain network, which is capable of delivering to more than 900 ports worldwide. RSC Bio Solutions and Drew Marine announced a new global marine distribution partnership that has expanded the global availability of RSC Bio Solutions’ range of EALs. RSC FUTERRA HF Series renewable hydrocarbon hydraulic fluids are Ecolabel certified and formulated to withstand extreme conditions and corrosion while operating in severe environments. Available in 46, 68 and 100 viscosity grades. Typical applications include stern tubes, controllable pitch propellers, stabilizers and various deck equipment.

PPG Debuts New Coatings for Steel, Metal Applications

PPG has introduced PSX 800 and PSX 805 coatings for steel and metal surfaces, two next-generation products formulated with greater flexibility and hiding performance than competing polysiloxane coatings. According to PPG, the two new products feature improved flexibility, which enables them to withstand the cracking under stress commonly associated with difficult steel, tank exterior and building exterior applications. PSX 805 coating adds a durable satin-sheen finish that masks imperfections on metal surfaces.

Corvus Energy Unveils Orca ESS Product Line

Manufacturer of lithium-ion based energy storage systems (ESS) Corvus Energy said it is set to unveil its next generation product line, Orca ESS, specifically designed and built to meet the needs of maritime applications. The Orca ESS product line, which will make its public debut at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo in Amsterdam, June 21-23, has been developed based on experience from more than 50 vessels currently utilizing a Corvus ESS, totaling over 35MWh installed and 1 million operating hours, Corvus Energy said.

Rust Prevention: BioCorr Gets EU Trademark Approval

Cortec Corporation said that its biobased and biodegradable rust preventative, BioCorr, has received registered trademark approval from EU's Office of Harmonization. BioCorr is a water based, ready to use formulation intended for preservation of metals in storage and during transportation. This innovative solution is formulated with renewable raw materials and contains 64% biobased content. It provides multi-metal corrosion protection by combining film-forming additives with Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCIs).

Damen, Frøy Vest Sign Multi Cat, Stan Pontoon Deal

On 28 October 2015, the contract was signed between Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and Frøy Vest AS from Norway, for delivery of a Stan Pontoon 4113 (YN 523702) and a Multi Cat 2712 (YN 571725). The event took place at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, the Netherlands. The Multi Cat 2712, with a length of 27.27 meters, a beam of 12.50 meters and a maximum bollard pull of 34.8 tonnes, is a new type of workboat featuring considerable innovation. The vessel carries two Cat C32 TTA CERT engines with a total power of 1,790 bkW at 1,800 rpm, which offer the vessel a maximum speed of 10.5 knots.

Marine operations company Green Marine Energy Support Services, based in Stromness, Orkney, took delivery of a Damen Multi Cat 2712 workboat for its offshore wave and tidal activities, the builder announced. Barge Master Installed on Walk-To-Work Vessel

On October 14 the Barge Master BM-T40 system motion-compensated knuckle boom crane pedestal was installed on the new Wagenborg Walk-to-Work vessel, designed and built by Royal Niestern Sander. The vessel and Barge Master system will be delivered in the first quarter of 2015. NAM will use the motion compensated crane for service and maintenance of gas production platforms in the Southern North Sea. Offshore platforms have become smaller and more flexible during the last forty years.

Kongsberg Seatex Introduces Two New Motion Reference Units

Kongsberg Seatex, Kongsberg Maritime’s position reference specialist division, is launching two new Motion Reference Units (MRU). Both products have been designed specifically for survey and crane operations, and outside installations, such as heli-deck monitoring. The new MRU 3 is designed for roll, pitch and heave compensation applications, including real-time heave compensation of echo sounders during survey operations and active heave compensation of offshore cranes. It provides heave measurements to meet IHO standards, ensuring that echo sounder data is highly accurate pre- and post-processing, while offshore crane safety and efficiency can be also be improved. The MRU 3 achieves reliability by using solid state sensors with no rotational or mechanical parts.

Dresser Gets ABS Fire Rated Approval from

Dresser has been granted ABS Type Approval for fire rated couplings that meet or exceed the previous 2008 ABS rule changes. Typical applications for the ABS approved Dresser coupling include above deck inert gas lines, cargo oil lines, bilge systems, fuel oil transfers, and lube oil transfer systems. Each authentic Dresser approved coupling can be qualified to a working pressure of 19.2bar (275 PSI). Fire testing has been successfully conducted to the stringent guidelines of ISO 19921 & 19922 requirements. Curtiss-Wright Acquires Nu-Torque

Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE:CW) has acquired substantially all of the assets of Nu-Torque, a designer and manufacturer of electric and hydraulic valve actuation and control devices primarily for U.S. Navy ships. The business will become part of Curtiss-Wright's Flow Control segment. Curtiss-Wright Chairman and CEO Martin R. Benante said, "Nu-Torque also provides the opportunity to expand our presence in the U.S. Nu-Torque was founded in 1980 and acquired in 2002 by Tyco Flow Control, a unit of Tyco International Ltd. With annual sales of approximately $8m, typical applications for the Nu-Torque products are for valve automation of shipboard fluid systems, such as fire main, ballast and various safety systems on numerous categories of Navy combatant ships.

Wärtsilä' Starts Prop Production in China

The joint venture company set up by Wärtsilä and CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) in China to design, manufacture and deliver Fixed Pitch Propeller (FPP) packages has officially started operating at the beginning of June 2004. The new company, called Wärtsilä-CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co. Ltd, is 55%-owned by Wärtsilä and 45%-owned by Zhenjiang CME Co. Ltd (CME), the latter being a wholly owned subsidiary of the CSSC.
