KVH’s Mini-VSAT Broadband Gov’t Approval

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted permanent “Earth Station onboard – Vessel” or ESV license authority for KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband satellite communications service. This authority officially approves the spread spectrum mini-VSAT Broadband service and 24-inch diameter TracPhone V7 antenna as meeting the FCC’s new regulations for broadband maritime services. Prior to receiving this permanent license, the KVH mini-VSAT Broadband service has operated in U.S. waters under an FCC Special Temporary Authority (STA) since September 2007, while also supporting mariners worldwide.

KVH Broadband Service in Australia & NZ

KVH Industries (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced the activation of its mini-VSAT Broadband service in Australian and New Zealand waters following the successful completion of satellite testing.  The new coverage area is the first significant expansion of the mini-VSAT Broadband service in the southern hemisphere.  Together with the recent addition of coverage in Asia-Pacific waters, it significantly expands the capacity of the mini-VSAT Broadband network to support both leisure boaters as well as the vital commercial shipping markets in the region.

KVH Industries, Inc. provides 60% more capacity for EMEA region of mini-VSAT broadband network. The company has just completed a major upgrade to the mini-VSAT Broadbandsm network that will provide customers in Europe, the Middle East, and northern Africa (EMEA) with a 60% increase in satellite capacity. The added capacity was provided by consolidating bandwidth covering two separate regions into one powerful unified beam, and by implementing Variable Coding, Spreading, and Modulation (VCSM) technology provided by ViaSat, Inc., (Nasdaq:VSAT ), KVH's partner in the mini-VSAT Broadband network.

KVH Pairs mini-VSAT with Iridium Open Port Broadband

KVH Expands mini-VSAT Broadband Network

KVH Industries, Inc. expanded the capacity of its mini-VSAT Broadband network with two upgrades recently, supporting growing customer demand for broadband at sea. One expansion added a new satellite beam that doubled the mini-VSAT Broadband network capacity in the North Atlantic Ocean region, including Canada’s Hudson Bay. The second expansion added a new beam across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to add 30 percent more capacity across areas such as the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

KVH, ViaSat Bring Broadband to the Pacific

Broadband Internet and telephone service is now available to vessels crossing the Pacific Ocean due to the rollout of the new Pacific Ocean Region for the mini-VSAT Broadband satellite communications service from KVH Industries, Inc. This milestone reaffirms the company’s top market share position in the maritime VSAT industry by vessels in service, a benchmark noted in the COMSYS Maritime VSAT Report, 4th Edition, March 2015. The company also announced that it recently expanded the capacity on its global mini-VSAT Broadband network, which provides essential connectivity to vessels around the world.

KVH Ships 7,000th mini-VSAT Broadband System

KVH Industries, Inc. has shipped more than 7,000 mini-VSAT Broadbandsm systems, designed and manufactured by KVH to provide mobile connectivity at sea. The TracPhone V-series satellite communications antenna systems are currently in use on everything from small recreational sailboats cruising the coastline to 1,000-foot commercial freighters transiting the world’s oceans. KVH launched the mini-VSAT Broadband service in July 2007, and has seen the popularity of the service grow, coinciding with an overall trend in the maritime industry toward increased reliance on broadband connectivity. As recently as September 2016, industry analyst Northern Sky Research reported that KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband customers account for 29 percent of the vessels using Ku-band service.

USCG Deploys KVH TracPhone V7 Satellite

KVH mini-VSAT Broadband Service

As part of its global network expansion plan, KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced that it has taken operational responsibility of the mini-VSAT Broadband service network supporting North America and the Caribbean. These regions were previously managed under a revenue sharing agreement with SES Americom. This arrangement has been terminated in favor of a leasing agreement with SES Americom for bandwidth on its AMC-21 and AMC-6 satellites. KVH also purchased the Miami satellite network hub that supports the Caribbean region from SES Americom. In the latest stage of its ongoing expansion of the global mini-VSAT Broadband network, KVH Industries, Inc. has more than doubled the network’s capacity in the Brazilian and African regions. The ongoing global network upgrade involves deployment of Variable Coding, Spreading, and Modulation (VCSM) technology provided by ViaSat, Inc., KVH’s partner in the mini-VSAT Broadband network. This is the third major capacity increase in less than five months, following upgrades in the Caribbean and EMEA regions in late 2012.

Clipper Tankers Selects KVH
