Project6 Design features award-winning website they designed for Cal Maritime in new case study

San Francisco Bay area branding and web design firm, Project6 Design, is featuring an award-winning website they created with a new case study.

Located in Vallejo, California, The California Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is a unique and specialized campus of the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system. They are one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States — and the only one on the West Coast. Project6 Design led the Cal Maritime team through a collaborative process to identify a new brand strategy and website design and direction for the school.

Cal Maritime had a problem: they were a major California State University campus with over seven thousand website pages of content, an extremely difficult user experience and an overall site design that did not effectively reflect their core values. They knew they needed to update their website to have it be more effective, but were unsure exactly how to do this.

Project6 Design helped to create some solutions: they redesigned the information architecture from the ground up based on each core group of users from the campus and beyond, creating different user scenarios and sections of the site that speak directly to those user groups, P6 was able to simplify the usability of the site and make information more accessible.
