BMT SMART Ltd (BMT), a fleet performance management system and BMT Group Ltd subsidiary, will showcase its performance monitoring portfolio this coming September at SMM in Hamburg, Germany.

The SMART suite of solutions works by continually collecting vessel performance data and presenting key information to the crew via the ship’s computer displays.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are displayed in a format designed to be easily understood by mariners, aimed to enable optimum vessel performance decisions. The performance data is automatically transmitted ashore, where it is stored on secure servers. The data is modelled, filtered and merged with Metocean data, while a web platform allows for management and analysis by on-shore personnel.

Visitors to SMM will have the opportunity to view BMT SMART’s new web interface which offers easy to use dashboards.

The combination of continuous measurement and reporting, Metocean expertise, powerful algorithms and intelligence makes the BMT SMART suite a solution for the marine industry. The SMART suite offers customers the benefit to have access to the global maritime expertise that lies within the companies of BMT Group. Therefore, performance issues experienced by individual users can be presented to BMT experts who can address the challenges.

Peter Mantel, Managing Director at BMT SMART, said, “Multiple pressures on the global marine industry, including spiralling operating costs and regulatory requirements, mean that stakeholders can no longer afford to ignore the performance of their fleet. This is driving a demand for Fleet and Vessel Performance Management (FVPM) solutions, with a requirement for data collection, display and analysis services to support optimal decision-making.”

A ship’s energy consumption depends on a number of different parameters and identifying optimal vessel performance requires know how and the use of smart data.

Peter Mantel continued, “SMM provides us with a great opportunity to demonstrate to industry how the use of such data can help transform complex information into actionable insights, to enhance efficiency and profitability. We can help our customers to achieve greater insight through access to a rich marine knowledge base.  Our suite of solutions can help with compliance, adherence to best practice as well as operational efficiency”.
