REL to Supply Deep Ocean Mooring Winch System to NOC

Romica Engineering Ltd (REL) have signed a contract with the U.K.’s National Oceanography Center (NOC) to provide a containerized deep ocean mooring winch system.

This 4,000m capacity winch system, with a hydraulic power unit, will be used at sea for various large mooring operations. This winch system will be freighted worldwide in an ISO 20’open topped container. An electrically driven hydraulic power unit is also to be supplied in a 10’ ISO certified container.  This self-contained unit will also contain all peripherals for the winch system (spares / remote / cables and hoses). As both the winch unit and power pack are self contained with ISO containers they can be easily ‘cross decked’ between NOC vessels.

This contract for the supply of a containerized winch solution allows NOC to utilize the system on international partnership vessels as well as those of other NERC organizations such as British Antarctic Survey, who recently announced the purchase of a new Research Ship.”

REL was founded in 2003 to provide payload welfare to the oceanographic and offshore oil and gas sector. Romica supports companies undertaking subsea measurement, monitoring and IRM (Inspection Repair Maintenance) tasks through a range of services, tools and equipment solutions.
