March 14, 2006

The US Navy and the US Coast Guard released the National Fleet Policy. The joint policy is intended to synchronize research and development, planning, fiscal stewardship, procurement, development of doctrine, training, and execution of operations of the two services in order to maximize effect and minimize costs. The National Fleet is composed of the physical assets and personnel of the services designed (whenever possible) around common systems and capable of supporting the full spectrum of national maritime security requirements.
