September 18, 2018 marks 10 years in business for Naval Group in India.

From its 2008 start as DCNS India with just 10 employees, Naval Group has grown to have a team of over 50 professionals in the country that specialize in engineering, supply chain and project management while building a sound industrial ecosystem. The team supports the Indian defense industry and Indian Navy under the nation's “Make in India” self-reliance objectives.

Naval Group entered India as a 100 percent owned subsidiary of the group with the goal of ensuring its long-lasting presence in the country, thereby demonstrating the strong commitment to the Indian Navy. This partnership led to the establishment of a sustainable industrial ecosystem which fosters the indigenous manufacturing of submarines.

The P75 program is an illustration of the success of the process. The first submarine of the class, INS Kalvari, built by Mazagon Dock and Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) with Naval Group's transfer of technology, was commissioned on December 14, 2017 in the presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The second submarine called Khanderi was launched at the beginning of 2017, has initiated her sea trials and will be commissioned this year. The remaining four submarines will be commissioned by 2022-2023.

Today’s 10-year celebration also highlights the strength and sustainability of the Indo-French partnership and the continued cooperation with the Indian Navy as Naval Group’s main customer, the company said.

On the occasion of 10 years of business in India, senior members of management from the Paris headquarters visited the subsidiary in Mumbai and shared the moment of joy with the local team. They discussed strategic topics extensively, including investments in the Indian team, resources and their capabilities in order to ensure the continuity of the roadmap.
