Noreq’s Danish subsidiary, NoreqActa, has been awarded the contract for 108 pieces WTPC’s (Wind Turbine Platform Cranes) to be placed on the West of Duddon Sands (WODS) offshore wind farm.
The West of Duddon Sands wind farm is a joint venture between Scottish Power Renewables and Danish company DONG Energy. The total capacity of the farm after start up will be 389 MW.
West of Duddon Sands is located next to two other offshore wind farms by DONG Energy, Walney 1 and 2 where NoreqActa also delivered the WTPC’s. The farms are all located in the Irish Sea.
Noreq has up till now, delivered close to 1000 pieces of our WTPC to different wind farms and the version for WODS has been modernized and given some new features and design. The cranes are fully designed by our Danish office.
“Noreq is proud to be chosen as supplier for yet another project with DONG and this is a confirmation of our position as one of the top suppliers of WTPC’s. The dimensions of this park are enormous and it is expected that after the startup in 2014 it will deliver power equivalent to 300.000 British households. The potential within the clean energy business is huge and we are very happy to continue our good relationship with DONG on this matter” says Styrk Bekkenes, managing director in Noreq.
