OSV Industry Quality Partnership

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Offshore Marine Service Association signed a formal memorandum of understanding April 30, for the establishment of an Offshore Support Vessel Industry Quality Partnership. The quality partnership was formed to promote safety and security within the offshore industry and to help protect the environment.  The Offshore Marine Service Association and the Coast Guard achieve these goals by meeting regularly to discuss current issues relating to offshore marine operations, cooperating to ensure compliance with Coast Guard regulations and other applicable laws and cooperating to promote the interests of the American public in the offshore support vessel industry.

"The Coast Guard remains committed to working with our partners in the offshore support vessel industry to create a common culture for achieving our shared goal of safe and secure maritime trade," said Rear Adm. Brian Salerno, assistant commandant for Marine Safety, Security and Stewardship.  "An open dialog with our maritime stakeholders is a critical component of the Coast Guard's Marine Safety Program and this new partnership provides a forum for that two-way communication."
 
The Offshore Support Vessel Industry Quality Partnership is another example of the Coast Guard's implementation of the Marine Safety Performance Plan which focuses on standardization, mariner licensing and documentation, recreational boating safety, compliance, investigations and casualty analysis, consultation with industry and international engagement and outreach.
