A cargo of 25,000 tonnes of British rapeseed will be shipped to Turkey next month, farmer-owned grain merchant Openfield said on Tuesday.
Openfield said it would be the largest ever cargo of rapeseed from Britain to be shipped to Turkey.
Turkey has imported rapeseed from several countries in the European Union in recent months partly due to a shortage of genetically-modified free supplies from the Black Sea region.
"It is believed that 200,000 tonnes has already been shipped to Turkey from the EU, with expectations of another significant tonnage in February," said John Thorpe, head of oilseeds at Openfield.
