Transas Receives Type Approval For ECDIS

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

April 22, 2003

Transas has received a DNV (Det Norske Veritas) type approval Certificate for its second-generation electronic chart display information system, Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS. In autumn 1999, Transas became the world's first company to receive ECDIS type approval for its Navi-Sailor 2400 system. Since then, the company has made a major step forward in maritime software development with its Navi-Sailor 3000, a new-generation electronic chart system enhanced with a broad array of progressive functions. Transas has pioneered the full integration of chart, weather, tidal, UAIS and Radar data on a single electronic chart screen. The official DNV recognition of the Navi-Sailor 3000 onboard system opens new opportunities for potential users of Transas next-generation ECDIS already introduced to the marine market. The extended functionality of Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS includes integrated weather forecasting, multiple chart display and user-selectable screen layout; all major chart formats; advanced Route Planning, Radar Overlay and Playback facilities; variable chart display modes; Relative and True Motion display; and UAIS transponder interface, which makes the system a powerful aid for navigation and the core of smart INS (Integrated Navigation System) in combination with other Transas products such as Navi-Conning and Navi-Radar. The DNV Certificate resulted from a careful verification procedure and confirmed the product's full compliance with all the necessary international standards and regulations.
