Two IMCI Seminars on Recreational Craft Directive

 

There being a new Recreational Craft Directive is now common knowledge in the industry, because of which and due to brisk demand, IMCI organized several seminars to bring the boat building community up to speed with the new requirements. The first was at IMCI Headquarters in Belgium and then, in collaboration with the Association of Lake Constance yards for its members, two informative CE seminars at the Ultramarine at Lake Constance. The seminars received a lively, positive response with a total of 25 participants and tie in with the seminars in recent years also held in Travemünde, Germany.

The focus of the seminars was the new RCD 2013/53 / EU.  The seminars included every aspect of the industry from all those who build the boats and / or bring boats on the market, to designers, boat builders, experts and employees of authorities. The extensive expertise and experience of the IMCI experts Ulrich Manigel and Ralf Dewender, assured, as in previous years, a wealth of critical information for all participants. They were given a detailed insight into the concept and the requirements of the new Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53 / EU, as well as significant changes to the currently valid 94/25 / EC. 

Both theory and practical practice aboard were reviewed against the most important basic safety requirements of the Directive and the recent developments in the applicable ISO-standards. The topics "required documentation" and "expiration of a prototype approved by a Notified Body" were also explained in detail.

• harmonization in the EC and meaning of the CE marking, implementation in Germany
• Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53 / EU
• ISO standards, their origin, meaning and harmonization
• relationship between the Directive and harmonized ISO standards
• Fundamentals of stability calculation
• requirements of the current ISO 12217 standards for stability
• Practice in Port: application of stability standards, deepening various ISO standards (eg fuel system, electrical system, fire protection, protection against falling overboard)
• Necessary steps for certification and final meeting
