The CMA CGM Group informs it has reorganized its container shipping lines between Asia and Europe with the reshuffle of its FAL1 and FAL3 services to better meet clients’ needs and optimize vessel utilization, notably increasing Chinese ports coverage with the group’s largest ships.

Starting June 24, with the aim of improving North China coverage, CMA CGM will reorganize its FAL1 service rotation, which deploys the group’s largest vessels. Twelve 11,000 to 18,000 TEUs vessels will sail the following rotation: Tianjin, Dalian, Pusan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Port Klang, Algeciras, Southampton, Dunkirk, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Malta, Khor Fakkan, Yantian, Tianjin.

Starting June 29, and continuing for 12 weeks, the FAL3 service will be operated alternately with the FAL2 service. In order to be harmonized with the FAL2 rotation, the FAL3 rotation, deploying 11,400 to 13,800 TEUs vessels, is therefore modified and will call the following ports weekly: Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chiwan, Yantian, Port Klang, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Jeddah, Port Klang, and Ningbo.

According to CMA CGM, with the new FAL1 and FAL3 configuration, the group answers its clients’ needs and provides a junction between North and West African markets and Asian markets with the call of Algeciras, in Spain; a complete coverage of U.K. with the Southampton and Felixstowe import calls; as frequent coverage as before of the Hamburg and Rotterdam ports; and an improved service from North Europe to Beirut and a new call via its EPIC service joining Beirut to the Middle East.

Nicolas Sartini, Group Senior Vice President Asia - Europe trades, said, "The new Chinese ports coverage by the FAL1 service and its complementarity with the FAL2 and FAL3 services will allow us to provide a better response to the market’s needs and to offer a very high quality service."

CMA CGM said it will continue providing a total of nine departures from Asia to North Europe each week.
