Russian Navy to Receive New Ships, Subs

In 2006, the Russian navy will continue its renewal program for submarine and surface forces. The navy rearmament program stipulates construction of the new missiles strategic submarine, which could become the basis for the future Russian submarine fleet. Also under construction are a multipurpose submarine and a diesel submarine. In 2007, the navy will receive a new ballistic missile, Bulava, as well as the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine. The surface forces will receive a new corvette, a frigate and several destroyers.
