ISP, Ocean Signal Equip Schooner with Safety Products

UK-based maritime firms, International Safety Products and Ocean Signal, have collaborated to equip Britain’s last remaining three-masted top-sail schooner with essential marine safety equipment.
 
The two firms have supplied lifejackets and an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) to the Kathleen & May. Located in Canning Dock, Liverpool, bystanders will see the ISP and Ocean Signal flags waving high on the vessel’s main mast.
 
It comes during a busy period of activity for the Kathleen & May which is an event location during this year’s International Festival for Business. The vessel is also ramping up activity with educational organizations, such as Hugh Baird College, to deliver educational and training support.
 
Geoff Billington, ISP Sales Director, said the firm has a strong bond with the 113-year-old “national treasure” and is delighted to be providing continuous support.
 
“We have enjoyed a terrific relationship with the Kathleen & May and its current custodians Geoff and Cindy Grice for many years,” said Billington. “We have helped to kit-out the vessel for a number of years, as a charitable donation, with a selection of items from our marine safety product portfolio.
 
He continued, “This latest instalment will see the supply of 25 Challenger lnterlock 275 lifejackets, which we manufacture at our Bootle site. These are combined working and abandonment lifejackets. ISP also handles all UK distribution for Ocean Signal. Through our relationship with Ocean Signal we have been able to supply the vessel with a Class 1 Epirb E100G. When activated the EPIRB transmits a distress signal and position directly to the emergency services via satellites.”
